[weewx-user] Daylight Saving and Primary Key error

2016-11-10 Thread Matt
Hi All,
looks like DST switch blew up my weewx. I have a Davis Vue. From
searching this forum it's a known error. In fact I had it happen last year,
but can't remember the fix I made. In short, I've tried several solutions
listed here on the forum (reboots, stop/start, dump, backfill daily), but
none of them are working. Weewx won't go past this error. I haven't
reported since Nov 6th.

Thoughts? Thanks in advance.

good catch.

the code is doing what it was told to do, but it is the wrong code.
because rxCheckPercent should be in [0,100] the code should be:

pkt['rssi'] = 100.0 * float(data[n]) / 4.0

which is equivalent to your

pkt['rssi'] = float(data[n]) * 25

the rssi reported by the bridge is always 0, 1, 2, 3, or 4. this is
different from the 0, 1, 2, or 3 reported by an acurite console.

@vince
Hi, i have attached extracts from skin.conf, weewx.css, and the full
template for 10year graphs.
You need to add the extracts to your own skin.conf and weewx.css. The css
also refers to a file called Header.jpg. You can omit this or use a
suitable photo of your own.
You will probably need to adjust the link buttons in the 10year.html.tmpl
as i have an extra one pointing to a 5year page.
I'm not anyways an expert but will try and help if you have trouble.

@tk
That's what stops the Guinness from spoiling. All that hot weather you get
results in drink you have to refrigerate to make it palatable. Our lows in
temperature are counterbalanced by our highs in windspeed, which gives us
great lungpower to tell tall stories and shout at people who dont have any
Guinness

Did you mean that you require a UV sensor, but the Davis instrument is too
expensive?

Or, do you mean that because of the UV sensor, they are quite expensive?

If the former, pecking around in Matthew's fine hardware comparison page
, reveals a few less expensive alternatives
that have UV sensors, such as some of the Fine Offset instruments or the
TE923.

If the latter, get a VantageVue. Much less expensive.

I have a Peet Bros Ultimeter 2100. It comes with a console which reads real
time data and stores daily high-lows for 5 days and more without a
computer. Of, course many other units do that, but the Peet Bros is NOT
wireless which can be an advantage.

Your niece may like the ability to record the high-lows without checking at
the same time.

Good luck, Steve

[weewx-user] Weather station autistic child

2016-11-10 Thread vigilancewx

Hi

I know this maybe slightly off topic but I am after a little bit of advice

I have been a member of this group for a few years and have all ways found
it to be very helpful and courteous

I am looking to buy a weather station for my niece who is slightly
autistic, and has developed an interest in weather and collecting data.

My weather station is a Davis unit connected to a pi and logged with Weewx.

That is not what she would like. She would rather collect the data manually
and log it daily.

Now there are a numerous different weather stations out there. I am
looking for any advice what to buy.

It will be kept at her local school so something that is reasonable accurate

I did think of a wireless Davis unit and base station with no software, but
with the UV sensors its quite expensive

Does anybody have any advice?

Thanks in advance

I would have to check the code but I suspect that when you tell wee_import
to set the interval via 2 different methods (in this case setting it to 30
minutes and also giving it a field to map) it defaults to the mapped field
and some of the vales in those fields may be different, would need to look
at the data.

So i changed to interval=derived, with the field map still in place, and

Does not surprise me for the same reasons as above.

Hmm, thought I pointed out in the Utilities Guide that wee_import needs its
records in chronological order, but a check just now and it seems I did
not. wee_import does not do any sorting of records, so if you are trying to
derive the interval from successive records they need to be in date-time
order.

Finally i reverted to interval=30, with no mapping and all proceeded
> without error.

That would work, no confusion over methods for working out interval,
doesn't matter about order or differing values as every one is set to 30.

Seems I will need to revisit the code and the docs. Thanks for the
feedback.

[weewx-user] Re: wee_import

2016-11-10 Thread John Masters
Hi Gary

Yes the leading space must have been causing the error, as when i used your
workaround
raw_datetime_format = " %Y-%m-%d %H:%M:%S"
the dry run proceeded.
The data have now been added to weewx.sdb. Thanks again.
I had noticed that the datetime format was split across lines when i pasted
it in here, but had checked that it wasn't like that in the original file
already. How i managed to add a leading space to the data in the datetime
column is unknown!

I found that when i set the interval=30 in the configuration file, and also
provided a mapping for interval, then i got:
Warning: Records to be imported contain multiple different 'interval'
values.
This may mean the imported data is missing some records and it may
lead
to data integrity issues. If the raw data has a known, fixed
interval
value setting the relevant 'interval' setting in wee_import config
to
this value may give a better result.
So i changed to interval=derived, with the field map still in place, and
get the same error.
Then i removed the interval mapping and get a different error:
Cannot derive 'interval' for record timestamp: 2010-10-31 01:15:13 IST
(1288484113).
Raw data is not in ascending date time order.
 Nothing done, exiting.
Finally i reverted to interval=30, with no mapping and all proceeded
without error.
Regards
John
