Sorry for this, I wasn't patient enough to go through all the docs. Found
what I needed. Sorry for the noise.

[weewx-user] Weewx v4 beta install doesn't create an index.html file

2020-01-08 Thread gjr80
Hi,

Hard to say anything without seeing the log. Restart WeeWX and let WeeWX run
for a couple of archive periods then post an extract from the log showing the
full WeeWX startup through the two archive periods.

I'm trying to install weewx-4.0.0b7 but after the install, there is no
index.html file in the /home/weewx/public_html directory. Am I missing
something in the build or the docs?

Thanks,

[weewx-user] Re: Troubleshooting wind direction issues

2020-01-08 Thread Pete Deffner
Ok so I'm guessing something is still wrong with my wiring/hardware because
in the log I am getting "Unknown Wind Vane value: 0.0". I'll have to go
back and look at it again. Random question but for my RJ11 jack even though
the lines are numbered 1-6, you still pair up to the outside, correct? So
meaning I have the wind speed on 3 and 4 (the middle 2) and the direction
on 2 and 5 (to either side of the wind speed wires). Thanks!

Most folks always recommend Davis if you can afford it.

There are 'many' previous posts asking this.

2020-01-08 Thread Sean Jahnig
Thanks for the suggestions. You are 100% right - i managed to fix this
about 1 hour ago.

I got someone on site to power cycle the display and it didn't fix it. So I
was brainstorming this for a few hours and i was surprised to see that *sudo
apt-get update* wasn't working. So i vnc'd into the pi and tried to browse
a website and that didn't work either. Strange that even tho i was
connected to it remotely via ssh, it was having DNS issues. I edited *sudo
nano /etc/resolv.conf* and added *nameserver 8.8.8.8* and viola it worked!
Not sure how that setting got lost because i am the only one with access.

Thanks for all the support.

Re: [weewx-user] weewx is working, but it's not uploading to windguru

2020-01-08 Thread Thomas Keffer
It looks like both windguru and wunderground suffer from the same problem:
your DNS is unable to resolve their URLs. You probably have a DNS problem
on your machine. To confirm, try

*host weatherstation.wunderground.com
*

If it is unable to determine the IP address, that's definitely the problem.

When I started with raspberry pi it came with pre-loaded software one of

the backup SD card into another pi and it works fine as it does in the pi
it was copied from. Ive never seen this mentioned on this forum but its an
easy way to back up valuable data. Just a thought Phil

[weewx-user] Re: wee_import: Novice user, and Python newbie

2020-01-08 Thread KnC Mc
I have the v4b wee_import working thru cron now. I was able to use it to
back fill my database to May when things stopped working.

I am still trying to look at the new version of wee_reports to try and get
the cheetahgenerator to create the graphs, but unsuccessful so far. I need
to do more reading to understand the settings again? I found that my
v3.8.0 wee_reports generated the graphics on the first run, so I added that
to my cron for the time being, but it seems to have stopped on the last
run. I am going to give it a couple more tries as I made some changes to
my script to specify the config files.

I am not sure if WU will throttle my usage, so I set my cron to twice a
day, and I will see how it goes. I will nose around the docs folder and
see if their are other utilities I might be able to beta test.
