[WestNileNet] A Miracle at Okuvu Church Sadness

2010-12-13 Thread Okuti Boroa
Dear all,

Yesterday was a day of mixed feelings, from a good ending the previous
evening with many friends to a rude awakening of Sam's accident (I could not
believe it talking to him on his bed at bugolobi hospital)! And to a very
emotional prayer at Okuvu. What the Bishop said was very deep and heart
wrenching, it was filled with a lot of pain, emotion and reality of the
world we live in today. May our departed Rest in Peace.

He based his sermon on our abilities to bring up children in the most
upright manner, in the most progressive manner and make them dream far and
wide. He said children were like an arrow which has to be pointed in the
right direction and shot to a target. He talked about we from West Nile
being naive, careless, weak hearted breeding poorly and hoped that we could
turn around be more ambitious and not just shooting our arrows on to the
ground around us. He talked of shooting to Makerere, to Harvard, to
Mbarara ... to Oxford and beyond and make sure that we significantly
participate in the development of our country.

He asked WNF to think harder about how to help its community, to be part of
the process of change for the better and was largely unsatisfied by us. He
prayed for all of us.

Lessons

We should search deep into our conscience and try harder to mitigate our
weaknesses. Our weaknesses include witch hunting, blaming (example of blame
game http://okuti.blogspot.com/2009/09/blame-game.html), criticism without
purpose, jealousy, greed and our threats are deteriorating community of
hatred, distrust, creation of enemies among ourselves and finally
destruction of future generations.

Reflections

Lets unite Christians, Moslems others, learn to co-exist, learn to forgive,
learn to love and trust one another for that is the only way we shall
achieve real unity and development. We may not be equally endowed, and that
is the nature of the world but everyone can play their role at their level.
Learn to push on with our work, objectives, goals and be achievers! I partly
disagreed with Bishop for he went for the blame game some of the time, I
however prayed with him and asked for forgiveness and prayed for every
member on this forum that they all see the light it a positive manner!

I went to Okuvu Church in the name of unity (I prayed with Anglicans,
Catholics and Muslems), I only wish we had shown up in larger numbers!

The parents talked, they gave accounts of the pain and the times they spent
with the departed. They were grateful for the support they were offered. A
big thank you to many some were named. Doctors from the region based in
Mulago and friends, Caleb Alaka, James Nyakuni, Robert Afema and several
others.

A great thanks to Sam Ejibua's team. The Bishop would like, at an opportune
time, to meet with the leadership of WNF to discuss various issues (I
believe Caleb/Sam will take this up).

Note:

I am writing as a vigilante of the region (I was not even part of the
organisation), so do not imagine/assume my mails are official in any manner.
I am sharing because I have a passion for cultural understanding, peace,
unity and fulfilment of mankind's potential

Re: [WestNileNet] Sam Ejibua

2010-12-13 Thread alfred tulu
Dear Commorads,

These attacks by robbers are becoming common on our bretheren. About 3 weeks
ago, one of our students at Makerere University doing Bachelors degree of Fine
Art and Industrial Design by the name of Benard, grand nephew to Donato Amabua
was attacked by robbers at night on his way to his hostel. His jaw and about 2
teeth were broken. He was treated from Mulago Hospital and still on recovery
process. As if this was not too much and now Sam.

Dear bretheren, I regret such attacks. They are extremely painfull and actually
aimed to kill or disable someone greviousely. I wish our 2 brothers and many
others whose names may not have been raised in this net quick recovery.
However, I suggest whereas it may not be possible to completely avoid moving at
night or even alone, where it is possible let us try to avoid risks.

Dear members,

Greetings to you all from URLCODA in Arua. I hope all is fine with you in
your respective places. I just wanted to let you know that URLCODA will be
marking 7 years of existence and dedicated voluntary service to the
community of West Nile. January 9, 2011 has been earmarked to celebrate this
achievement at Aroi Sub-County Headquarters. Mr. Matua Grism, the Sub-County
Chief for Aroi Sub-County is chairing the committee charged with the
responsibility to organize the event which will among others be attended by
local and national political leaders, and our members from the neighbouring
Democratic Republic of Congo who are strong supporters and beneficiaries of
some of the URLCODA HIV/AIDS programme.

One of the main concerns of URLCODA has been the disappearance of our
cultural values and norms we used to cherish and strive to make humble
contribution towards its revival and sustenance. To that effect the cultural
affairs unit of URLCODA will be having a variety of cultural shows on
January 9, 2011 with a view to raising awareness and funds to acquire
traditional costumes and equipment they shall be using for various
performances in different places. It is our hope that this group will be
used for carrying out HIV/AIDS education in various districts of West Nile
through Music, Dance and Drama.

Those who love the culture of our people are hereby kindly requested to
support this initiative. A humble budget by the group is as shown below.

[WestNileNet] CEFORD for West Nile 10 years of CEFORD

2010-12-13 Thread Okuti Boroa
It all started with an Anthem, there was a full choir to lead the Anthem,
the first time it was officially sang - it was launched in the presence of
dignitaries, high profile politicians, business people and elders from West
Nile. I saw many people I had heard of and many I had never known and
wondered why sometimes we cry that we do not have people in high places,
that we do not have educated and learned people, that we do not have a
sizable number of business personalities.

We have many successful stories from West Nile and may want to start
focusing on the pluses of the region rather than the negatives.

Susan Kerunen played highly classy music that for a moment I forgot what I
was doing, just standing there and watching this talent from an Alur from
West Nile, her music is so appealing and yet soft getting into your blood
slowly but surely! I was so happy to see this very polite, unassuming lady -
we had a chat before she left and I was humbled by her good nature see a bit
of her here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Sx6P_UDpGPo - in private I may
just give you access to her music J

Following her performance were interludes of a live performing band from
Congo, together with performing MC Ezaga MC Ejibua - The welcome and
ushering committee was so full of colour that they would immediately lift
your mood for the occasion! Did we think the entertainment was done not yet!

There was none other than J. Candiru who came in style and entertained the
guests with her slightly different style intriguing, active and bold she
showed a style of sophistication a pinch of nice arrogance that which comes
with a Hollywood kind - Perfecto J keep going - a feel of her can be viewed
here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0gSmTZnOgOg - Ecstatic!

The dinner had other activities like arrow and bow fundraising as well as
dance into the night.

Anyhow a very successful 10th anniversary dinner, CEFORD we pray gets better
and better, the new logo, magazine, website (www.ceford.org.ug ) was
launched. With this organisation and other such we stand to achieve a lot
more development in West Nile - Maximum appreciation to the CEFORD team.

People came all the way from West Nile they gave testimonies of how their
lives have been transformed in simple ways, through exposure to knowledge,
best practices and training. A total diversion from the thinking of scarcity
to that of abundance!

A total display of potential of the region, culture, potential and all -
long live! A feel of the event

Re: [WestNileNet] Sam Ejibua

2010-12-13 Thread Ayikoru
Dear All,

This is unfortunate indeed, I wish Sam a quick recovery.

The question is, was the attack on Sam simply a random act of thuggery that
tends to be rampant during this time of the year? or is it a sign of things yet
to happen...?Considering the fact that we are fast approaching the West Nile
Family day out, I hope there are effective personal safety and security plans
in place for this occasion- assuming that it will be held as previously
planned. No more memorial services if we can avoid them, please!

Take care brethren,

Maureen

Dear all

I received a telepohone call this morning that Sam Ejibua was assaulted by
thugs
the previous night, a couple of meters away from his residence.

Sam is said to be admitted at Bugolobi Nursing Centre, opposite Nakumat
Supermarket Bugolobi (formerly Payless Supermarket).

Can those of you who are within Kampala check on him and advise us on his
condition as among other things, his phone was taken by the thugs, thus making
communication with him impossible.

Dear all,

Yesterday was a day of mixed feelings, from a good ending the previous

believe it talking to him on his bed at bugolobi hospital)! And to a very
emotional prayer at Okuvu. What the Bishop said was very deep and heart

world we live in today. May our departed Rest in Peace.

He based his sermon on our abilities to bring up children in the most
upright manner, in the most progressive manner and make them dream far and

He asked WNF to think harder about how to help its community, to be part of
the process of change for the better and was largely unsatisfied by us. He

Re: [WestNileNet] Sam Ejibua

2010-12-13 Thread Onzoma Apollo
Comrades

Its really sad that Sam got attacked by the thugs on the eve of the day for
prayers held at okuvu church for our departed comrades. It very good that
there is some improvement. I thank colligues for the support provided to him
at this moment when he has been experiencing alot of pain and updates
provided on his progress. I wish Sam quick recovery.

  Dear All,

This is disheartening news happening to one of our best. I pray for his
speedy recovery. Is this a planned happening?

 *Subject:* [WestNileNet] Sam Ejibua

   Dear all

I received a telepohone call this morning that Sam Ejibua was assaulted by
thugs the previous night, a couple of meters away from his residence.

Sam is said to be admitted at Bugolobi Nursing Centre, opposite Nakumat
 Supermarket Bugolobi (formerly Payless Supermarket).

Can those of you who are within Kampala check on him and advise us on his
condition as among other things, his phone was taken by the thugs, thus
 making communication with him impossible.

 Regards

 Acidri David Onzima
