TASK DESCRIPTION
  **Feature summary** : Providing a torrent file 
 allows another way to access the 
Wikidata data dumps . 
There are already torrent files for different Wikipedia's 
, but I did not find those 
for Wikidata.
  
  **Use case(s)** (list the steps that you performed to discover that problem, 
and describe the actual underlying problem which you want to solve. Do not 
describe only a solution): Downloading data dumps from either Wikidata or the 
Internet archive can be slow at times. Using Bittorrent might help spread the 
distribution and would allow faster download speeds.
  
  **Benefits** (why should this be implemented?): I am currently experimenting 
with creating subsets from wikidata where I often download a data dump to work 
on, or ask someone to repeat the applied method. THere is always the delay to 
get the dumps to proceed.

TASK DESCRIPTION
  Eclipse RDF4j  is Java API that separates the middle-ware 
of SPARQL endpoint hosting from the database. 
  It has a number of inbuilt databases including ones build on Solr but also 
allows other backends to be used e.g. virtuoso. 
  It might be a natural point to build some of the extensions that WDQS has 
provided in a way which is database agnostic.
  Benefit is that the Blazegraph code looks a lot like the RDF4j code in the 
query evaluation layer. 
  Which means things like SERVICE endpoint "allow listing" should be relatively 
easy to migrate
  
  The query evaluation engine is used by apache Rya  
and Halyard .
  
  RDF4j also supports an early draft version of RDF-star which might make some 
queries easier to write in the future.

  I am taking the liberty to polute the thread with a reference to 
"MillenniumDB: A Persistent, Open-Source, Graph Database" 
https://arxiv.org/pdf/2111.01540.pdf from November 2021. Millennium may have 
some serious limitations in terms of requirements that can be setup, but 
interestingly they write "However, MillenniumDB was designed with the complete 
version of Wikidata – including qualifiers, references, etc. – in mind." and 
their benchmarks seems strong. They compare against Blazegraph, Jena, Virtuoso 
and Neo4J.

  Yup but just make sure you add bot edits to the original training model 
(while labeling them as good automatically). Otherwise the model that haven't 
seen those edits would think they are also vandalism. As an analogy, if you 
exclude all of basketball pictures in a image classification model, the final 
model might mistake them as orange because it haven't seen a basketball.

  @Lydia_Pintscher: This is unfortunately really bad news: I have just 
discussed this issue with Lucas and Michael. The short version is that a 
maintenance attempt apparently failed badly and led to data loss (see incident 
report 
).
 There were no backups. As a result, we permanently lost data for all metrics 
that still lack historic data (11 October 2021 and earlier). Reconstructing the 
missing data from dumps is theoretically possible in some cases, but it will 
take a lot of developer resources. Our recommendation is to focus 
reconstruction attempts on only a very small number of extremely important 
metrics. If you have a shortlist of such candidates, the team would in the next 
step try to identify whether reconstruction is possible in theory and what 
would be needed to make it happen. Also, we are asking to get regular backups 
for the future (see T297145  and 
triggered by this also T297485 ).

  @Manuel @Lydia_Pintscher going forward I suggest also investing resources to 
switch to Prometheus as the supported metric system. Graphite is deprecated and 
in "life support" mode while all producers (essentially mediawiki and related) 
are being ported over, thanks!

  Speaking of very narrow: The input field for the Lemma looks a bit off as

we'd like to send a proper communication to them before dropping support. Would 
it be alright to schedule the droppage for Monday January 31, 2022? This would

somewhat infrequently by background jobs, therefore a good starting point would

  **Feature summary** 
  I would like to have a facility whereby I can search the labels of deleted 
items.  I understand that such a feature would have to be restricted to some 
user group (e.g. sysop or wider).
  
  **Use case(s)** (list the steps that you performed to discover that problem, 
and describe the actual underlying problem which you want to solve. Do not 
describe only a solution):
  On a regular Wikipedia, there is one (or a few) obvious name(s) for an item.  
When a deleted article is recreated, it is fairly easy to find prior creations. 
 Wikidata items get Q-ids.   When doing new page patrol, it is impossible to 
see if a page has been created before.
  
  **Benefits** (why should this be implemented?):
  Wikidata is targetted by paid editors and self-promotors who serially create 
the same items again and again, but it is hard for admins to detect this.

  I run regular SQL queries for unconnected pages on a few wikis, per:

  Specifically by running this query:
  
SELECT page_title FROM page WHERE page_namespace=0 AND page_is_redirect=0

WHERE page_namespace=0 AND pp_propname='wikibase_item')
  
  I recently learnt that __EXPECTED_UNCONNECTED_PAGE__ exists as a magic word, 
seemingly introduced by T97577 .
  
  I would like to exclude pages that use this magic word from the database 
query, so that the bot runs more optimally - is this possible somehow?

  This is still the correct URL. I don't have exact logs, but it looks like 
around 2021-12-09T17:44 the instance stopped running and upon inspection 
reports a status of error and power state of paused.  Around 20 minutes after I 
started poking it the power state changed to No State. I have `projectadmin` 
rights for the project, but attempting to start the instance reports I don't 
have appropriate rights. Will likely need a wmcs admin to poke it.

  It's a bit trickier than that, because `foreign-resources.yaml` currently has 
no mechanism to automate such a post-processing step, and if we did it 
manually, we'd 1) forget all the time and 2) break the integrity check, because 
the post-processed file would have a different sha-512 hash.
  
  We could build post-processing steps into `foreign-resources.yaml` (ideally 
not by mangling the files themselves, but by adding new files that are derived 
from the original ones), and that is probably the best long-term solution, but 
I uploaded a quick and dirty solution that I hope will work for now. Vue ships 
a CommonJS version that we can't use in RL (because it tries to load other NPM 
packages) but that should hopefully work the purposes of lib-version-check. Let 
me know if that works.
