Re: [Wikitech-l] Has anyone heard of a file download issue with Mediawiki / Wikipedia?

2009-10-08 Thread Roan Kattouw
2009/10/8 Aude aude.w...@gmail.com:
That will happen when the Use external editor by default option is checked
in editing preferences.  In order to get external editors to work, the
 browser needs to be configured.

 http://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Manual:External_editors

If that's not the problem, then I'm not sure what the problem is.

Alternatively, it could be that a blank page somehow got stuck in
Squid. If that's the problem, it should go away when the page is
edited or purged.

I will sometimes get it when the browser or network is being

Wikimedia) when the server is being slow. It's typically not
consistent.

Thanks Platonides. With the new redirect tag is there anyway to
import the new XML Files?

Could I simply strip out the redirect / tags from the file, if I
wanted MWDumper to work. Or if I upgrade to MediaWiki 1.16, would
import.php work without any problems?

(Thanks for the pointer to the source of MW Dumper. The Source is not

well documented for me at this point.)

Thanks again,

[Wikitech-l] Webzzle

2009-10-08 Thread Florence Devouard
I was contacted by someone working (for) (at) Webzzle, who want to meet
me (for unknown reasons as of today).

I googled Webzzle to better identify who the guy is and what he is
likely to talk to me about. And what I found let me quite dubious.

Please have a look here: http://www.webzzle.com/explorer/home.kol

There is a presentation of the concept here:
http://www.webzzle.com/intl/en/help.html

I kind of now suspect what the meeting will be about and I think I'll
settle down for a phone meeting rather than an expensive and time
consuming face to face meeting in Paris :)

But I'd like to have your opinion about this website and the use it
makes of Wikipedia.

I am asking here in particular because there are obvious technical
implications. But I am sure some of you could reflect on the less
technical implications ;)

thanks

With old versions of IE (though never 7.0 or 8.0 to my knowledge), the
browser session would sometimes become corrupted and show this
behavior. In those cases it would be fixed by restarting the browser.

[Wikitech-l] New committers?

2009-10-08 Thread Chad
I've seen a lot of new faces in the commit list, but I don't remember
them getting announced here like we usually do :)

Main concern is making sure they've all got USERINFOs and are
signed up on mw.org (so they get followup e-mails).

If it's failing due to an old xsd then ..

The updated xsd and copy of Import.php just got checked into our
repositories so you can either pull this

http://svn.wikimedia.org/viewvc/mediawiki?view=revrevision=54472

and increase the version number ala

http://svn.wikimedia.org/viewvc/mediawiki/trunk/phase3/includes/Export.php?r1=56298r2=56612

Or you can wait till the next tagged release which will likely include this.

(Thanks for the pointer to the source of MW Dumper. The Source is not
mentioned in the Readme. However, I found it too complicated - or not
well documented for me at this point.)

I'll have a peek at this and see if it can be improved.

The Google FX extension alredy did it..

I hope someone could updated MW Dumper to the new XSD – it would help a
lot as far as importing Wikipedia Dumps are concerned, because
importDump.php is not practical.
