Not to my knowledge. I asked Arnis about this at a couple of WISPCONs and
he didn't seem averse to releasing the specification, I just never
followed up on it.

It would not be to hard to replicate winbox natively for Linux, it
would be the GUI that would be a issue. Has MT documented the winbox
interface? Mmmm ideas.

No religious questions! :-)

I've never really liked AVG personally, but it is not because of
it's detection capability, but because it is pretty slow compared to
others I've tried, at least with it's real time protection.
Having said that, I like TrendMicro, Avast! and many others that are
NOT Symantec or McAffee. I've used Avast for a long time on my
personal machines and have never had a complaint. I highly
recommend adding a realtime spyware scanner, too. I think Trend now
has this in an all-in-one package. Main thing I can suggest is stay
away from those that include the firewall as well. I think Trend
has that option as well.

2007-09-08 Thread Ty Carter Lightwave Communications
We use and sell TrendMicro Officescan and Antivirus.

It doesn't require ANY user interaction and just plain works in the
background; we are a master service provider with Trend and have been
extremely happy with the performance and pricing; granted this solution
is geared more for commercial; however we do put some residential
clients on it as well.

Hit me off list if you want more or we can help.

I've never really liked AVG personally, but it is not because of
it's detection capability, but because it is pretty slow compared to
others I've tried, at least with it's real time protection.
Having said that, I like TrendMicro, Avast! and many others that are

Winbox runs under wine (mostly) fine. If you have Wine .44 then you
must upgrade MT to 2.9.40 or better and to loader 2.2.11

It would not be to hard to replicate winbox natively for Linux, it
would be the GUI that would be a issue. Has MT documented the winbox
interface? Mmmm ideas.

Just out of curiosity, any cites or details on this? We recommend AVG Free

didn't even hardly check out the site ;-) but when i (finally ;-) went to
leave it it wanted me to click OK to install something. Sorry for all the
tech lingo. Anyway, it wouldn't let me exit the install window so I
restarted my PC, when it came back up I had the old missing system file

We've (20+) been fully clean under AVG for over 2 years.

Those of us who venture where we shouldn't go (not me) get AVG warnings
consistently but no infections.

Consumer Report rated them low on features and options, not on protection
(which was OK).

You might look at your SPYWARE or elsewhere before assigning the problem to
an AVG-bypassed virus.

Anyway, I would be suspicious about other things before a failure in AVG.
