Thanks a lot Josh, practically spit my latte through my nose laughing so hard at your comment, or as my kid says ROFLMAO which seems like I'd get kind of dirty on the floor, of course I have plenty of ass to laugh off, but WHAT-EVVV-ER, :) Forbes On 7/6/2010 12:01 PM, Josh Luthman wrote: > It doesn't make snide jealous remarks =P > > Josh Luthman > Office: 937-552-2340 > Direct: 937-552-2343 > 1100 Wayne St > Suite 1337 > Troy, OH 45373 > > “Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to > continue that counts.” > --- Winston Churchill > > > > On Tue, Jul 6, 2010 at 2:59 PM, Forbes Mercy > wrote: > >> Really? Re: [WISPA] ISP seeking MRP (material requirements planning) software
Hi Lori, We do 100 to 200 new subs per year. Closer to 100 now, the new installs are slowing down. We have a very small number of components that we normally use so inventory tracking is mostly as simple as looking at the shelves. When we get to a certain level (about 2 weeks work) we order more product. It's all handled by the tech (me) and an office manager. I used to manage a large warehouse. We used all kinds of fancy software there. However, here in this business I've found that my work is far too bursty for that. Keeping minimal amounts on the shelf (to conserve cash) but never running out requires close coordination between the installer and the scheduler. Hope that's helpful. marlon - Original Message - From: "Lori Bridegroom" To: Sent: Tuesday, June 29, 2010 12:54 PM Subject: [WISPA] ISP seeking MRP (material requirements planning) software >I have spent most of career in the manufacturing business sector. [WISPA] ISP seeking MRP (material requirements planning) software
I have spent most of career in the manufacturing business sector. I was recently assigned to manage the purchasing and inventory control for my company. Before I try to re-invent the wheel in the ISP Industry, I want to know if there is a canned MRP (Material Requirements Planning) Package that others are using that works for the wireless internet providers. I want it to include the following: . A configuration input for special projects and additions to typical installs . Input for forecasting . Ability to set planning horizons . Lead times, re-order point, lots, etc. . A pick list for each standard install type . A pick list from special configurations . An MRP explosion - compares demand and supply which eventually creates a suggested purchasing list along with an exception list that suggests to "pull-in orders" and "push-out orders" Lori D.
