Tate,
Yeah, I changed it on the Wiki after you told me the correction.

Where on the Wiki did you see that? The Fedora Howto/Installation notes
 show:

 cvs -d:pserver:[EMAIL PROTECTED]:/cvsroot/xastir login
 (all one line)

 Find it at:
 http://www.xastir.org/wiki/index.php/HowTo:Fedora

It should work for CentOS as well. I'm 'bout to download that puppy
myself for some other work. In process I'll make sure it's OK for CentOS.

What did you expect to happen? If I remember correctly it waits a
while and then writes something into your ~/.cvspass file, then
exits. I don't think it tells you anything unless it _can't_
complete the operation.

Go on to the next command. There are only two commands to do total
to get the sources.

If the first command hangs and doesn't bring you back to a prompt
within a reasonable amount of time, it may be that the remote server
is down or slow, or there's a problem somewhere in-between on the
network. Kill it (Control-C) and try again. If no luck after a few
tries, wait an hour or a day and try again.

Once you get that first command done, you'll never have to do it
again on that machine, as that user.

Shouldn't be that busy. I've accessed that server monday and today

Make sure you typed the line properly with no breaks. I think the
example lines on the SourceForge CVS page might get wrapped on you.

I've had occasional problems and had to go back to the user home dir,
and do a complete cvs copy from scratch. My config's right, but
something else is unhappy. Doing a full download was easier/faster than
troubleshooting.

So I thought that CentOS would be close enough to Fedora to use those
instructions. So I followed these instructions,
 http://www.xastir.org/wiki/index.php/HowTo:Fedora, to install Xastir.
Ran into a couple of problems...

First, I attempted to install libgeotiff. I could never get the make
to work. I kept getting the following error:
 make: autoconf: Command not found
 make: *** [configure] Error 127

I was able to make in the previous steps just not this one.

My second problem was with getting the Xastir files from SourceForge.
When I used CVS and hit enter at the CVS password prompt nothing
 would happen.

Anyone have any ideas for me on these problems, please?

 Hey Eric,

 What does:
 $rpm -q autoconf

 Show you?

 On mine, I get:
 autoconf-2.59-12

No idea if the Fedora repositories work for CentOS or not - but if
there's something configured in the way of repositories, you could try
the ol 'yum install autoconf enter' - see what that gets ya.
