[xmail] What does this error mean?

2003-01-20 Thread Chris Jones

I have had no problems for a week. I just tried to send an email to a
client and xmail refused to send it. I stopped the service and started the
IIS smpt service and it was sent/received with no problem. The error

[00] XMail bounce: Rcpt=[[EMAIL PROTECTED]];Error=[550 not local host
prhc.on.ca, not a gateway]
[01] Error sending message [1043084378150.2192.crj2000] from [enersave.ca].
ID: S874
Mail From: [EMAIL PROTECTED]
Rcpt To: [EMAIL PROTECTED]
[02] The reason of the delivery failure was:
550 not local host prhc.on.ca, not a gateway
[05] Here is listed the initial part of the message:
Received: from crj2000.cr-jay.ca (192.168.1.11)
by crj2000 with [XMail 1.11 (Win32/Ix86) ESMTP Server]
id S874 for [EMAIL PROTECTED] from [EMAIL PROTECTED];

I can ping prhc.on.ca no problem and I can send emails via IIS smtp and
other servers.

[xmail] Problems with xmail

2003-01-20 Thread RC n AS
Well after getting everything setup I can do some things but not others. I
can get mail through the server, I just can not send it. Any common fixes to
this problem? I am using Linux RedHat 8, XMail, and XPai for admin.

Also, is there a common error/fix area anyone has made?

Thank you,
Rodger

What happens when you try to send? Do you ahve the option My outgoing
server requires authentication enabled? That's the only way to secure down
the server from spammers.

[xmail] Re: Problems with xmail

2003-01-20 Thread RC n AS

Actually I have no auth scheme going right now. I figured once I was able to
make everything work I would move on to lock down mode. Does it require me
to have the SmtpConfig checked? I can add my server config file if anyone
can help figure it out...

When I send mail it acts as if it sends (the mail client send it), I get no
error back saying it was unsent, it just is never received to the email
address.

When I send from my other account (different mail server on different server
software) to this server everything works fine. Odd problem

I am sending from my mycravens.com account to this server and then from this
server to my mycravens.com account. I am not using the computer that the
server is housed on, nor a computer that attaches locally so I am pretty
positive I have licked it.

My only issues now will be how to lock this down solid against relays and
then how to add anti spam filters.

[xmail] a question about backup MXs and resend timeouts ..

2003-01-20 Thread Louis Solomon [SteelBytes]

I've got a server that is running a domain (domain1), and being a backup MX
for another domain (domain2). Can I have a short time out (say 24hours) for
emails send through it for domain1, but have a long timeout (say a week or
more) for any emails it receives as a backup MX for domain2 ?

I hope that made sense.

[xmail] Re: What does this error mean?

2003-01-20 Thread Frederik Gallon

Chris,

IMO you don't have a gateway configured in server.tab!
Check your config.
If you are sending your messages trou an ISP check smtpfwd.tab. There should
be a '*'[tab]'smtp-ip-of-isp'
If you are sending your messages directly; check DNS capabilities condig.
Check docs.

Either way! Disable IIS SMTP server; otherwise Xmail won't be able to start,
or will start with troubles - Both applications use port 25 110 and may
cause conflicts.

I have had no problems for a week. I just tried to send an
 email to a

 and started the
IIS smpt service and it was sent/received with no problem. The error
