[xmail] Re: CPU use with 1.21
Just to let anyone be sure that there's no problem with the spool files, neither with XMail itself. The problem we noticed was a loop caused by an error in a redirection with custdomains. Ee found it checking mail by mail and finally noticed that. So there are no kind of ghost in 1.21, only human mistakes. The extrange thing is that with 1.15 and 1.17 the loop appears not to be happening or maybe XMail acted slowly and didn't "eat" so much CPU as the loop does in 1.21 Daniel Serena > Davide Libenzi wrote: > > Please do that. No, just AVG console working with 'xav' (Denis Olivier). The active scanning is disabled. The server has two hard disks, with RAID mirroring. If there is strong order to the subject (I think the RE:, etc has to be before the [xmail]), subject threading works great, but if it is like this list, then, from my experience, it has to thread with the In-Reply-To: header. The problem is people generally reply to a thread, then change the subject and start a clean body, instead of typing a completely new message like you did (look in the headers, your post is missing this header, mine will have it). It may use the References: header too, I'm not totally sure, just played with it a little. -- Best regards, Charlesmailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] - To unsubscribe from this list: send the line "unsubscribe xmail" in the body of a message to [EMAIL PROTECTED] For general help: send the line "help" in the body of a message to [EMAIL PROTECTED]

[xmail] Re: Migrate mailboxes to different OS?
Under FreeBSD the existing port is way out of date (version 1.8 or something like that), so the simple (and I think proper) approach I use is to: 1. download the distro from the "official" xmail site and compile it 2. put a start/stop script at /usr/local/etc/rc.d (this may differ for netBSD or openBSD) in case this is helpful. It may be to *BSD users who generally anticipate an up-to-date port. I have been considering maintaining a port for FreeBSD but haven't gotten a sensible time block together yet. [xmail] Re: CPU use with 1.21
Please, Davide: Remember my problem on Xmail 1.21 over W2000 (mail "RE: problem with spool file"; 12/30/2004): my spool structure shows spool errors in the Event Manager regulary (a few per day). The server works, and the file system is REALLY OK. An example: " ... ErrCode = -56 ErrString = Invalid spool file Unable to load spool file "\\?\f:\mailroot\spool\14\20\mess\1105820563391.2044.3e.apolo.rej" SMTP-Error = "554 Error loading spool file" ... " Is the problem the ".rej" ? The documentation refers ".rej" as the extension of a file response with filters processing, and I´m not using them (I mean a ".rej" file; I use filters, of course). Solved. Theres something on the queue. I've moved everything that was on the spool directory. Then restarted, and now it works fine with 1.21. Some mail should be a bad one to the 1.21 and seems to be right to 1.17 or 1.15. I'll check for it to know exactly the one that makes this CPU problems in to XMail. Want is the exact error if any returned (by the server or your telnet = tool)? Like timeout ? Or error after one of the smtp commands ? Can you give us a 'print screen' of the telnet session ? Error in XMail ? Or is normal ? The SMTP sender (MAIL FROM:<...> to be clear) and the RFC822 From: header are two separate information. Usually they are the same, but they can be different, and an MTA does not care about the From: header. - Davide - To unsubscribe from this list: send the line "unsubscribe xmail" in the body of a message to [EMAIL PROTECTED] For general help: send the line "help" in the body of a message to [EMAIL PROTECTED]

Do you have multiple IP's on that machine. If so, try telneting to the IP that Xmail binds to. Do you get Xmail header when you telnet? What address do you have in you outlook account settings? Hi all. I'm still making a nice happy Fedora Core 3 box. Has anyone here ever moved mailboxes from a Win32 machine to a *nix machine? I have several users with mail still in their mailboxes. I'm hoping a copy will work, but I'd like to see if anyone has any advice before I attempt it. Create users first? Copy whole user directories? Any feedback would be helpful.
