Thanks for these tips all. I've been putting my expetience with this
migration down into writing and I hope to submit it to Jeffery Laramie for
his HowTo.

I'll let everyone know what works in my situation for further reference.

I always thought of that as part of the instillation, but you are right I

You should have specified that you have to add "-Mm" to the command line, 
otherwise is never gonna work, since XMail uses Maildir on Unix.
