There is no package because upstream neither provides the source code,
nor a binary for this architecture.

I don't think so. The layout of the package search website is the same
for all packages, if something isn't available, then there are simply
no mirror servers listed. This makes sense.

Maybe misleading is too strong a word. :-)

The information on the page

https://http://packages.ubuntu.com/xenial/web/browser-plugin-freshplayer-pepperflash

is confusing, at least to me as a user. If a powerpc package was
successfully built which seems to be the case, I can't understand why it
does not appear in (any of) the repositories. Or did it fail to build?
Or there's in fact no support for powerpc (and other architectures
except x86) and hence it wasn't built at all? If there's no support,
those architectures shouldn't be listed at all.

Thanks. I have come to the conclusion that flash is not available. If
there is a power pc mailing list I'll find it and post there. For the time
being I can reboot into MacOs and look at the videos there. I also have a
windows vista computer that works pretty well.

It's a dead link, you can't download it. There is no file to install.

If you click "amd64", then below

A search on packages.ubuntu.com turns up a

Re: [xubuntu-users] Adobe Flash

2016-11-12 Thread JMZ

Hi Harold,

Maybe you should consider a complete switch over to Ubuntu instead of
running MacOS/Ubuntu dual boot. I'd understand if you'd be hesitant to
make a full jump into Ubuntu if this is your only computer. If you can
experiment on this computer without losing important data, try running
one of the Ubuntu flavors only. Firefox for Linux is up-to-date with
every coding language. You'll probably find that LibreOffice in Ubuntu
runs faster than old versions of MS Office in MacOS.

Some will direct you towards Lubuntu, the LXDE flavor of Ubuntu. LXDE
requires a lot of terminal use (many functions aren't accessible through
the GUI). Maybe it'd be better to stay with xubuntu while learning
about Linux.

I've always wanted to run a PPC with an Ubuntu flavor, so perhaps I'm
just envious ;-)

1. It is available for all supported Ubuntu releases.

http://packages.ubuntu.com/search?suite=yakkety=names=flashplugin-installer
   https://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/otherversions/

2. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Adobe_Flash_Player#Desktop_platforms
Why do you want to install such an old and useless version of flash
   player?
   For what purpose?

If you seriously will still use Flash crap, something nobody should do,
then do yourself a favour and use Chrome.

https://chromium.googlesource.com/chromium/src/+/master/docs/chromium_browser_vs_google_chrome.md

Usually HTML5 should do the job, only crap requires a dead dino. It's a
PITA that flash isn't completely dead, just a living dead.

I'm not sure if adobe-flashplugin works in 14.04. But give it a shot!

Hi,

Xubuntu 14.04. When I'm updating, adobe-flash always takes an hour to
update and holds the whole process up.

Is there a fix?

Thanks
