Thank you for your test log.

It need setting syslogd for testing syslog(2).
We know that it can test using syslog-ng.

Do you use any syslogd in your system?
What kind of syslogd do you have in your system?
(e.g. syslog-ng, sysklogd, rsyslogd,busybox-syslogd, ...)

Yuki Machida

Raghavendra,

Not in the C code, but we have done a Node.JS REST API server for OIC (using
the iotivity-node bindings which is using the iotivity):

https://github.com/01org/iot-rest-api-server

The repo also contains few test apps for the rest client.

$ find /tmp/toaster_* -printf '%T@ %p\0' | sort -zk 1nr | xargs -0n1 | cut -d
 -f 2 | head -1

Hi Raghavendra,

We would need a bit more information to understand what's happening:

* Which branch are you using (fido or master). If you are using master,
which commit?
* Which data are you entering in the import layer form? Keep in mind that
you must provide a git url, a unique layer name and a revision. Without
that information, the import layer button will remain stubbornly
inactive and nothing will happen when you click on it.

Cheers

Hi Todor,
sbin/init script is there in the rootfile system.

But i built rootfile system for my BSP and I give this rootfs to the eclipse
sysroot path.

And i select the qemu instead of externel hardware. I give the qemu kernel path
to prevuiously built qemumips kernel image which is built before my BSP is
built.

When I click on the external Tool - qemu_mips-poky-linux qemu image is
booted and gives the following error.
-sbin/init exist but could not execute it

I have the previously built qemu kernel image and i give it path to the
 eclipse's qemu kernel path field.

Qemu is launched but it gives error while switching from kernel to rootfs i.e
 init script execution problem.

If your rootfs does not have /sbin/init, your kernel won't be able to
execute the topmost parent process(init) and the boot will fail? What is
the error message?

Hi Todor,

Now I am able to build the application, launch the qemu and run the application

but when I run the application in stepmode or stepover it gives the following
error.

Reading symbols from /home/testuser/workspace/test16/src/test16...done.

GDB is unable to find the start of the function at 0x31c73cf0
and thus can't determine the size of that function's stack frame.
This means that GDB may be unable to access that stack frame, or
the frames below it.
This problem is most likely caused by an invalid program counter or
stack pointer.
However, if you think GDB should simply search farther back
from 0x31c73cf0 for code which looks like the beginning of a
function, you can increase the range of the search using the `set
heuristic-fence-post' command.

[yocto] Issue with ADT when we use the extrcted rootfile system

2015-05-18 Thread Raghavendra Kakarla
Hi,

I have some issues with the ADT while building example autotool project when I
extracted the rootfs using the runqemu-extract-sdk and give extracted
directory path to ADT sysroot path.

But while building the same application in ADT by giving the sysroot path to
actual sysroot path i.e ~/poky/build/tmp/sysroot/machine-name.

Could you please let me know is the way what i am doing is recommended or not.

If not please tell me the why i am getting the errors while building the
application using the extracted sysroot.

Thanks in advance.

Could you please help me in resolving this issue.

I followed the following steps for installing the adt in my development PC:

I built the toolchain using the following command:

$bitbake meta-ide-support

Extract the root file system by using the following commands:

$cd ~
$source ~/poky/build/tmp/environment-setup-mips32r2el-poky-linux
$runqemu-extract-sdk \
~/poky/build/tmp/deploy/images/arqlyn/
core-image-minimal-dhruwa_ioe-20150511102759.rootfs.tar.bz2\
$HOME/arqlyn

I followed the command given in the yocto project dev-manual for installing
eclipse and adding yocto plugin to eclipse.

I Gave the following data to the eclipse for configuring the cross-compiler
options:

1. I select the Build System Derived Toolchain
2.point the toolchain path to home/testuser/poky/build
3.gave sysroot path to /home/testuser/arqlyn

After entered this information I got the my machine-name in the select the

After this I create a autotool support project and tried to build but it gives

Could you please help me in resolving this issue.

I followed the following steps for installing the adt in my
   development PC:

I built the toolchain using the following command:

   $cd ~/poky
   $source ./oe-init-build-env

   $HOME/arqlyn

I followed the command given in the yocto project dev-manual for
installing eclipse and adding yocto plugin to eclipse.

I Gave the following data to the eclipse for configuring the
   cross-compiler options:

   1. I select the Build System Derived Toolchain
2.point the toolchain path to home/testuser/poky/build
   3.gave sysroot path to /home/testuser/arqlyn

After entered this information I got the my machine-name in the

I don't have a SVN server with the linux kernel handy, so I wasn't able
to test this exact same configuration. But I can say a similar git
configuration to kernel.org, or to a tgz worked when I tried a test
build.

Looking through the code more .. this is simply a case that isn't common
or anticipated. The mixing of the SVN SRCREV and the linux-yocto-custom
means that the code that follows is looking to manipulate the tree as a
git repository.

Can you look at your linux source directory in the build, and see if
the SVN checkout has been converted to a git repo ?

If so, the workaround would be to set SRCREV_machine = AUTOREV, and
that should short circuit the SRCREV validation that simply won't be
correct for a converted git tree.

Alternatively, you can also create an override to do_validate_branches
and stub out the functionality completely.

What release is this ? master ? An older release ?

And are you seeing this same error if you have a kernel recipe
that builds from git ? i.e. one of the Yocto reference boards
 with a similar SRCREV ?

The yocto kernel's expect to be able to validate the commits
and then modify the tree with additional git commands, so the
tree is either in git format, or is converted to a git format
(in the case of a tgz) .. so it could be that the SVN checkout
is preventing that conversion from happening.

Hi Paul Eggleton,

I have some doubts on the SDK and build errors.

Could you please clarify my doubts.

1. Can we get the consolidated log/file for total installed packages for
corresponding SDK. If user wants to know what packages are included in the SDK.

2. When trying to build the images always getting a error saying that clean
things in kernel path in build error log, then we goto that path run command
make mrproper then it is working fine.

Thanks and Regards,

If you want to use your own non-git sources you are moving further away from
how the linux-yocto recipe works. If you have not already I would suggest
using linux-yocto-custom as described in our kernel development manual:

http://www.yoctoproject.org/docs/current/kernel-dev/kernel-dev.html#working-with-your-own-sources

Note that you must not have SRCPV included in the recipe's value of PV, or
you will get the error you mentioned.

Right, and the lesson is you must do that as root, not as a normal user.

I want to build some packages from openWRT which are not in YOCTO in yocto

For this I download the package tar files from openwrt wrote the recipe for
building this tar files. Building the tar files is completed without any
errors but when installing this package in the image it give some error
like following. ERROR: hostapd not found in the base feeds (dhruwa_ioe
mips32r2el mips32el mipsel noarch any all).

My advice here is to use the recipe we already have in the community to build
this:

http://layers.openembedded.org/layerindex/branch/master/recipes/?q=hostapd

In general the OE layer index is the best place to find layers providing
recipes to build anything that isn't already supplied in Poky/OE-core by
default.

Is this perhaps because you extracted the files onto an SD card / other storage

The default is root with no password. If that doesn't work, do you have
debug-tweaks in your EXTRA_IMAGE_FEATURES? It should be there by default.

[yocto] Yocto-custom kernel build issue

2015-02-02 Thread Raghavendra Kakarla
Hi,
I want to add my own BSP layer to yocto and also we use our inhouse customizied
kernel.
I add my BSP layer to yocto using yocto-bsp create command.
I give the our curtomized kernel repositary path to the git path while creating
the BSP.

After successfully creating the BSP layer when I run the bitbake -k
core-image-minimal I got the error as follows.

Log data follows:
| DEBUG: Executing shell function do_kernel_checkout
| ERROR: S is not set to the linux source directory. Check
| ERROR: the recipe and set S to the proper extracted subdirectory
| WARNING: exit code 1 from a shell command.
| ERROR: Function failed: do_kernel_checkout (log file is located at

could you please help for resolving this issue.

Thanks and Regards,

[yocto] Yocto-custom kernel build issue

2015-01-30 Thread Raghavendra Kakarla
Hi,

I am new to yocto project build system. I downloaded the yocto project build
system from git. I built for the all qemu architectures(MIPS,ARM,PPC,X86) and
ran on qemu.

all are working fine.

Now I need to create a bsp layer for my board which has the mips processor core.

I created the bsp layer with using the yocto-bsp create command.

here I use the my own kernel which is reside at our local git repositery. I
gave this path while creating the bsplayer.

After adding my bsp layer to bblayers and my mechine to local.conf i built the
kernel using bitbake -k core-image-minimal command.

While building i got the following errors:

Log data follows:
| DEBUG: Executing python function sysroot_cleansstate
| DEBUG: Python function sysroot_cleansstate finished
| DEBUG: Executing shell function do_configure
| NOTE: make oldnoconfig
| make: *** No rule to make target `oldnoconfig'. Stop.
| NOTE: make oldconfig
| make: *** No rule to make target `oldconfig'. Stop.
| ERROR: oe_runmake failed
| WARNING: exit code 1 from a shell command.
| ERROR: Function failed: do_configure (log file is located at
/home/testuser/poky/build/tmp/work/mydhanush-poky-linux/linux-yocto-custom/3.10.14+gitAUTOINC+12bbf6468e-r0/temp/log.do_configure.14044)

And also i did not got src folder in the following path for my mechine which
is there for the qemu mips.
/home/testuser/poky/build/tmp/sysroots/mydhanush/usr

could you please help for resolving this issue.

thanks in advance.

Thanks Regards,
Raghavendra K.
