Pick whatever definition of clever works for you. I'll go first: I choose St.

[Zappa-List] help/info needed on converting files

2008-07-03 Thread abxer3p
To make this short, the subject line says it in a nutshell.  I have been using
MusicMatch to convert from MP3 to WAV and the vice versa on one computer (since
my version of Sound Forge only recognizes WAVs).  Since MusicMatch changed to
Yahoo Music and then was discontinued, I can't do this on my other computer.
I've looked at the other rippers/players on that PC and can't find the same
function; maybe I have it but don't know it.

What other programs can do this seemingly simple task?  Jim L., you have always
had great information.

Hi Joseph,

I believe itunes will do it - click 'preferences' in the 'edit' menu, go to
the 'advanced' tab, then 'importing' and set it to WAV - then you can right
click any track and you'll see the 'convert selection to WAV' option.

That would do it, I think?

RE: [Zappa-List] help/info needed on converting files

2008-07-03 Thread abxer3p
Hi Ashley,

Thanks for the suggestion.  I don't really do any downloading or use iTunes,
mostly recording from LP and cassette (saving my collection -- down to 300 or
so LPs from 1700 over three years or so).  I just recently bought a PDA (is
that the right acronym?) and would use it for that as well.

thanks again,
Joseph

Hi Howdie Doodie!
(Are you a union man, and may I call you Rudy?)
A Thread is the line of messages on any topic; you added your comment to the
subject message and I have added along. All of these posts on this topic
constitute a thread...
As for downloading shows, that's a much tougher question. It's done easily,
but it does require software. The latest trend is torrenting - something I have
yet to try. For an old school newbie like yourself, I would say that joining
a vine is the quickest way to build up an FZ starter collection; you know:
crawl before you walk, walk before you jog, jog before you run, etc... Copying
an existing disk is much easier than downloading off the Net.
Welcome to the List!

I think everything he created was clever slowing tracks down or speeding them
up and sticking them together to form a new piece of music. Grand Wazoo and One

Bri:
I use goldwave, it's an awesome music file batch converter and also
IMO a kick ass file editor (www.goldwave.com). They used to have a
fully functional freeware version, but I paid a subscription years ago
as it was well worth it. I use CDEX for ripping from CD as the codec
for that seems better than goldwave's. It might convert as well,
haven't look into it: freeware at http://cdexos.sourceforge.net/
