the jeff samuel on tektite #12 is really hot. I like all the tracks on the
12. one of the ricardo villalobos rmx's is my favorite. have not heard or
even saw any other tektite record, but if I do I will check them out because
this record is quality.

I had this mix tape of theirs (Tektite trax) that was super tight.
And I have a slightly older record, by Merrick Brown I think, on this label
that is really nice. I will get it out when I get home actually. Isn't
Tektike from Texas or something?

Merrick actually started up another label, Chalant, along with another
list...the vibe he had going on Tektite has effectively moved over to Chalant
but last I checked Tektite wasn't dead...just a holding pattern. He spins
regularly in Austin but
travels here and there.
As for Mad Monkey, the
Merrick is a great guy, and a good producer, who I don't think gets enough
time in his studio. The records on Tektite -- including Stewart Walker and
Fred Giannelli among others -- are all ace. AND his second label, Chalant
is wicked too.
In a perfect world someone would drop a pile of money on
For those in the bay area, Merrick Brown will be djing tonite at the Top at
424 Haight in San Francisco (Haight and Buchanan).
