speaking of which, the new 12 on Throw (#1008, a white label) has a kinda
hiphop/idm sounding track
The last issue of URB (Bjork on the cover) also had a
nice piece about the influence of Hip Hop (or 'bling

bling bling on blip
the original pressing of Metroplex 1 (M-001) has a matrix # of AR-7034. i'm
assuming that this first record was done totally through Archer (cutting, as
well as pressing) and that's why it has this #.unless someone knows
different?
if you really want one i've got a couple copies but they're not sealed. make
an offer if you're interested
I was willing to pay well over $500 for this, but still lost it...
I should've used the strike at the last minute -method:
i would say it was the Code Assault record but it doesn't say 'produced by
the wizard' it say produced by code assault' so it's probably not it
I recently found a few sealed copies of a record that gives the producer
as the
wizard, the tracks are called 'code structure', the year is 1989,
have you opened one up to hear it yet? is it techno?
that Code Assault 12 is from '89 and i think it was the only record Jeff
did that year (inbetween the Final Cut records). the tracks have subtitles
with Wizard in the title (i.e. Without Sin (the Wizards Institute Mix)
etc) but the records say

TRIBUTE TO THE UNITED STATES
This,
exactly. the whole reason that canadian student wrote that passage was to
show that vague random phrases could be construed as whatever people want to
have it mean in their heads. in fact, there's some nostrodamas writing that
also being passed around now saying that it predicted thisthis same
i don't know why i'm writing this because i'm so sick of all these non313
posts myself (though, i'm not caring musch about music at the moment, given
the situation).
i didn't read the posts but i notice his name and/or nickname is Xin. i
could assume he is chinese or taiwanese.

Subject: [313] off topic but important!!!
Terrorists have flown two large planes
that plane never even left the ground from cleveland, it was evacuated
i understand you're trying to caution people but i should say that during
this hectic time they'll be tons of reports that are unconfirmed.
we have one suspected plane on the ground possibly with a bomb in
cleveland.
for putting that one up minto

not much of a video..reminds me of some of the old videos you'd see
mtv's 'amp'. you know, the one's that never had proper videos made so they
just edited a bunch of kaleioscope and 3d terrain computer graphics
together, haha
also worth a look, original 'Space Invaders are Smoking Grass'
this track on the viewlexx mix playing at 94:50!!
i believe it's some brand new morgan geist business, i've had an acetate of
it for a long time but do not know any rock-solid info on it.
if someone could please help me out.
there was another one cut at the same time as that one that's even

For
Well,
Back in the day Detroit had a largish punk scene. One of punks primary
influences was Jamaican reggae dubb. Just had to bring it all back
full
circle.
well, before Jamaicans started making their own music (before there was
reggae and dub as genres) they used to just cover
i second that, king tubby is incredible. if you want to hear some wild
dub-sounding electronics check raymond scotts ibm/bendix stuff
get your hands on as much king tubby as possible. you may also want to
check
out his apprentice prince jammy's recordings... good luck

they had these out back around the mid-80's. they never got big, and this
design looks exactly the same
there must be a reason why they are no good

yeah, it's decent enough.
got a lot of parliment/funkadelic influence, and electro touches with Paris'
crazy rantings.
they just had a release party last night in fact at trumpp's (detroit strip

i don't think there's too much to say about him,
he's german, had a couple top 40 hits (i think din daa daa actually went to
#1 in the US one week if i'm not mistaken)
you'd probably recognize the track when you heard it was played on the radio
when it came out (in '82 or 83, i think), and was
that's a really good idea
i'd be down to support that. if anyone decides to do this let me know and
i'll help out (i'm too unmotivated to actually design a site myself, though.
haha)
These experts on this board should make a site where all the Transmat
graphics were presented. It's strange
a couple of the metroplex and a handful of the transmat ones go for $30-50
US
how much do you think transmat and metroplex first
vinyl pressings are worth in moderate condition.
thanx
Sam
ps whats happened to metroplex these days?

Do
is there any cover charge? i only ask because most of the times i've been
there they did not charge anything to enter

yeah, but they're not really easy to find
ep 3, 4 and 5 are Clone
but 1 and 2 are on Dub
i don't have them anymore (so they couldn't have been THAT good, ha), but if
i remember correctly they were both 10s and the tracks were mediocre
Does anyone know what Duplex ep 1 and 2 are like? Or do
yeah, now i remember; ep1 was a 10 and ep2 was a 12. i think they were
released around the same time and the matrix #'s are fairly similar
(something like, #3 and #3.1)
They are in the same style as thier later records. EP1 and EP2 are
released
on Djak Up Bitch (Now known as Dub Records). I
it, somebody's got to pay for that.
also, look at how many Swedish imitation records come out. they sound
the
same, no new ideas, more than half of the Swedish sounding records are
garbage. i mean, do these records really need to be released
constantly?
if you miss one, you can find
well, my favorite track on that Duplex EP5 would be 'motion blur'. if you
like the sound of that track, too
i'd recommend 'influence' by Electronome (HM-1202). last i knew it was still
in print but if you can't find it around i'm sure klen at clone could
probably hook you up. these tracks are only
speaking of orgue electronic vs.legowelt if you haven't heard it you should
definately pick up the Derrick In Nord Korea EP on Bunker. it is
unbelievable, it's got 5 tracks on it and 4 of them are amazing; ranging
from italian disco to dopplereffekt-like electro. they also have that great
remix of
Squarepusher and Plaid at St Andrews
Is anything happening in Detroit Aug 18? Selway, Stewart Walker at Motor I
know about and may attend. Looking to maybe meet up with some 313ers
(finally some free time).

Get
jeff stopped playing because the stations started requiring pre-approved
playlists and it was too much hassle
It has exacerbated the problem definitely, but urban radio in Detroit at
least has been problematic for at least the last 15 years. Both the
Wizard and Mojo lost their jobs because of
has anyone here read that book that the electrifyin mojo was working on
about the history of black classical composers? if so, was it good? and what
was the name of it (if it was even published) cause i knew some info on it
but i've forgotten it all now
you know, just stations getting into more corporate mode and less of a
freeform mode
it wasn't specifically just for jeffs shows, everyone had to do it, but
could you imagine jeff having to write out a playlist for every wizard set?
and then having to get it approved? just too much trouble so he
with
beautiful vocals. All of this stuff interests me a lot and I have no idea
where it comes from or what to call it. It's distinct from what I'm
hearing
out of the West London New School sound, although both evoke
the same return to an older variety of soul or funk for me. More of a
direct
link
i can't suggest where to go, but i'd say stay away from the Ren Cen, the
hotel doors there can sometimes be opened with credit cards/atm cards/etc.
lots of break-ins during DEMF...
