I'll second the Koner experiment (Andy Melwig also had a hand in the
project I believe)- Also a fascinating album is Data Rape- (Sonic Boom's
masterpiece as well.. done with the use of Speak and Spell toys)- This EAR
album blew my mind! Every sound seems to crawl all over you... tumbli

match it.
If you mean by "match it" that no one will ever be able to emulate the
classic MBV sound - well, what would be the point? Any at
Sonic Boom (aka Pete Kember from Spacemen3 and Spectrum) was the EAR
mastermind.
I believe Kevin participated in a few releases only.
Millenium Music is highly recommended.

hmmm... so Kevin didn't spend the whole of the last decade "building a
studio" then - he did work on some released music at some point! ;)
He mixed a track on the latest Primal Scream record . It's nothing special.
He also played guitar on the album and toured with them to support it. The
E.A.R. *is* Sonic Boom's project, but Mr. Shields has assisted
him - on the first album , at least - along with Kevin Martin.
I saw Sonic do a performance here in NYC a couple of years back where
all he used were about six Speak - N - Spells, all hotwired to create
different tones and vocal so

i think E.A.R was the handywork of Pete Kember (aka Sonic Boom), and not
