In the newest issue of Paper magazine there is a one page article on Hawtin.
Discusses his affection for undersea diving and his work in the La Beaute
installation in Avignon France.
"A major six-month exhibit (which runs through the end of October) examines
artisitc interpretations of beauty

No, he doesent always have the funk (but sometimes he does), and I dont
think
thats his main focus either. He's on a different mission in my opionion,
and
when it comes to painting distant, cold, alien soundscapes no one can
compare.
It's all been done before!!

Respect to Hawtin for giving us what we have today. While many have
contirubted to the growth of electronic music this man deserves a lot >more
credit than you are giving him.
I'm a big fan of Richie Hawtin's past work, but the recent tour and it's
corresponding Mix C.D. was frankly dull.

Damn, I think it's time some of you out there realize that what Richie is
doing is not an easy thing. The man has done so much for advancing all
forms of electronic music and I'm sick of passively reading your emails
trashing him. A couple of redundant sets does not justify your criticism

I wouldn't say this is the stance that anyone in this discussion is taking,
Ritchie's output (production) is a far cry from his DF9 shit. I really dug into
some of the concept stuff and Consumed is great once you figure out how to pitch
it. I think the Plastikman stuff took a familiar sound a lit
like preference in icecream flavours, musical tastes are purely subjective...
but for my money hawtin's 'loop' and 'f.u.' are about as funky as techno has
ever achieved. if that's steril, then viva la sterility.
show me the 'fresh talent' that is putting out tracks of that calibre and i'll
gladl
word.
