Hello,
This idea goes back a lot further, you would have to look into academic
electronic circles for the beginning of concept. Off hand, Edgard Varese
and Stockhausen both employed this concept in their installation work in
the 1950's. I am sure there were other using this concept in their
I was at that gig too...It was Carl, the drummer that he worked with on

honest, I don't remember it being terribly enjoyable but it was definitely
interesting and innovative. A lecture on Techno by Motor's Adriel was
I also so saw Carl Craig at Cranbrook a few summers ago, it was pretty

Recloose was doing some scratch accompaniment to Carl's controls. Franscisco
Mora was the drummer providing beats as well. I don't think Carl was directly
controlling Recloose's gear. Maybe he controlled which speaker it was
distributed? Not sure.
Anyone remember the other group that
It may not be the same reference but Pink Floyd had done the same thin in
London @30 years prior. They had set up 360 speakers at 1 degree intervals
in a large cirucular auditorium. Each speaker had a different tone so the
same sort of effect would occur. fascinating concept.
