The problem with uneven bar counts in jaabc2ps actually causes a program crash -- not
much of an effect to like ;-)

I still haven't succeeded in FTPing the jaabc2ps RPMs to the sourceforge site
so I put them on my website instead. I also updated the dos/windoze zip files

Again, doing it this way leaves it up to the person who will be printing, and

Not having netscape configured to recognize text/vnd might be why

middle of a tune you have to print *something*, right?
I can offer it as an option though. Next time I upload the code
&&FreeMetStyle 4 will cause it to output nothing. It'll be up to the user
to use that option intelligently, though ;-)

Isn't the tilde (~) a "combining" space? Abc2ps treats it that way and I'm
pretty sure it's described in the draft standard.
I use "w: 1.~First..." all the time to put the "1." and the first word of
the line together on the first note with a

where the meter is used for bar checking, and so on.
Shouldn't be too tough, just (like everything else in abc2ps) time
consuming to nail down.

Anyway, I'll look into it.
BTW, I appreciate your finding these little problems. It's hard for any
one person to catch all the little overlooked "features" in a program as
sprawling as jaabc2ps ;-)

want to produce midi output from your abc you'll have to invest as much
time and energy as he and the other developers on this list by writing a

I remember right I fixed it by changing
something in ghostscript's defaults, not in abc2ps. Just brought up the
ghostscript viewer and I think what I changed was in the "media..." menu,
selecting the correct paper size there.

That is because, probably on the server side, the file is being sent as
"mime/txt" which your browser recognizes as something it can display so it
does.
Just right click on the link, and select "save target as..." from the
resulting menu.
