Hey all,
I know this might be a little off the topic but I cant find any answers
anywhere.
I have a W2k machine SP3 with RRAS installed with all the hotfixes.
This machine is in a Windows NT4 domain and the WINS and DHCP servers are
setup and working and specified in the RRAS settings.
Hi. I'm trying to set up RRAS as a ipsec/l2tp vpn server.
I have a couple of questions. You can either point my sorry butt to a good doc
if i seem too lazy or answer them for me. I've been using mark Minasi's book on
win2k server as a guide but he's doesn't really go into depth about RRAS and

I work for a company that has a class c of public addresses and they put their
servers on this subnet(i know bad idea, but i have to live with it).
anyway, I set up a RRAS server for VPN access. It has 2 interfaces, one
private, the other public(the int for vpn).
Now here's my issue- since the publ
i have clients connecting via pptp vpn in windows XP to a win2k RRAS server.
They connect fine, but after they log on they can't get to Exchange/ When they
ping my exchange server they get back the ip of their dsl router(netopia).
also when they do an nslookup, they get their isp's dns server.

I have this strange issue where a client using winxp sp1 pptp client connecting
to my win2k sp4 RRAS server keeps disconnecting after 5mins.
I do not have IE set up to disconnect if idle.
Nothing is logged on the RRAS server. The client only logs an event id 20159-

I set up the VPN server on my Windows 2000 Box and need to be able to

I thought I could use Kerberos instead of a cert or pre-shared key?
All the clients are in the same domain/forest.
Why is doing this with Cisco so easy and with Win2k such a pain(you don't
have to answer that)?

How do I configure the RRAS server to give out ip's from a dhcp server from a

My RRAS server is handing out ip via dhcp from the same scope(subnet) as the

The 20159 event is on the client.
That's the only event on the client.
The RRAS server does not generate any events or logs.
Is there any other place the client logs pptp info besides event viewer?
All the other clients use the same netopia router as a gateway with no issues
so I think this is o
