Whatever you do works best if the people know how to use it and keep it up to
date.
There are definitely people paying for fiber mapping software who then only
have partial data in it which they then mingle with institutional memory

Honestly the sooner you get it into a GeoDatabase the better. If you plan on

much which system you use or if it’s something home-brew
Jason,
You can have the Billing/OSS or just use the engineering. They do tie
together quite well but you can easily do the engineering without the
billing system.

3GIS is the actual product. Fibersmith has a clever program that writes
the splice sheets. Fibersmith the company will also design fiber. We've
used them a WHOLE bunch, more than I can describe in one email.
This is what the splice sheet looks like:

I have used several systems over the years. Including a very expensive Mapcom.
I keep coming back to excel. It really does what I need and is free.

It sounds like all they have now is a Billing/OSS system that presumably has
this integrated. Do you have a separate setup?

Jason,
I've been using FiberSmith by Donny Smith. It is based on 3GIS. Does mapping, splicing, etc. Also produces some nice splice diagrams per splice case.

I've been trying to find something besides spreadsheets to document splices
/ splice cases, but cannot find anything that isn't an all-inclusive
package with a matching monthly fee. Does anyone know of anything out
there that works for this? I've been trying to use
