Just wanted to follow up and say that this list is a great resource for
knowledge but also for the people. We were able to get the APs from a member
and they will be on the tower tomorrow weather depending.
Thanks

I was thinking about that... if it really is going to be 6 months before
they can get power back online, I wonder if it wouldn't be a good
opportunity to start putting a lot of solar panels up down there.

Power lines and underground construction are not a good match. Not only are
you limited on the voltage due to the dielectric strength of the cable
insulation but you also have a capacitance introduced that will cause phase
shifts/power factor issues.

I would think it would be somewhat sunny at some of the times after a storm
like this. One solar panel could run a nice transceiver during sunlight and if
you were not doing tons of transmitting it could charge a batt. If you are
going to invest in a rig and antenna, why not a solar panel?
From what I'm hearing, the major issue is power, or the lack thereof.
Existing supplies of fuel for generators, etc. are in extremely short
supply. I've been hearing estimates of 6+ months to restore power, and
that may be optimistic.

I wish I still had an HF rig and a decent antenna. I am wondering of anyone on

Keep hearing of the lack of communication capability there, but 2 meter and HF
is pretty much going to work

Rolling 3.2.2 still. I've got known issues in 3.4 and 3.5 that doesn't
make it worth it.
I would really like to have my downlink% OID that came with 3.3 or
3.4...but not at the cost of the bugs.
