Hi Elizabeth,

When we place a meta record hold all of print that is not large print has
the format book so we would need to add formats. This is a
good consideration that I've been thinking about.

Thank you for your help.

Hi Terran,

Thank you!

We're thinking separate records will need more work to make the record

Hi Will,

Thank you for your suggestions and very helpful details!

Some of our libraries indicate paperback in the call number. The shelving
location is an interesting thought because we can filter by the location.

[Evergreen-general] Paperback vs. Hardcover Records

2024-03-20 Thread Joan Kranich via Evergreen-general
Hi,

In C/W MARS a bibliographic record may contain items for paperback and for
hardcover. We have had some recommendations to separate paperback items
from hardcover items.

This is a change on the cataloging side but also with how holds would be
filled.

Do any of you use separate bibliographic records for paperback vs.
hardcover or do you have another workflow to make it easy for staff and
patrons to place holds to be filled by one format vs. the other?

Thank you.

Joan

Hi Milissa,

C/W MARS uses Quipu and we are happy with the performance and support. You
can see our registration form at

[Evergreen-general] Purging Holds

2023-04-11 Thread Joan Kranich via Evergreen-general
Hello,

C/W MARS is planning to begin anonymizing canceled and fulfilled holds
after a set period of time such as 3 months from cancellation or
fulfillment.

If your library purges holds, can you please tell me if the purging removes
the holds from a patron's holds history?

I have found documentation
on
the Evergreen site which indicates the purging does not remove the holds
from the history but I'm not sure. I've reviewed the settings in the Web
Client Server Administration>Global Flags too.

Thank you.

[Evergreen-general] Parts and Aspen

2023-02-16 Thread Joan Kranich via Evergreen-general
Hi,

If you are using the Apen discovery system with Evergreen and your library
uses the Part field in Evergreen, can you please tell me how the Part field
is displaying in Aspen and if Part level holds work?

Thank you.

Re: [Evergreen-general] How do you handle placing temporary ILL items on hold?

2023-01-03 Thread Joan Kranich via Evergreen-general
Hi Benjamin,

Some of our libraries create a brief bibliographic record with the title of
their town name followed by ILL. They add an item for each ILL item. Some
use a numbering system in the call number and others put the title of the
item in the call number.

Some of our libraries use precat records to circulate ILL items. A change
in the behavior of the precat record has had some of our libraries change
this workflow.

Re: [Evergreen-general] Double check-in

Hi,

Some of our libraries have moved the checking in of items to a back
workstation and found that resolved the problem. Staff can focus on the
check in and not have the distractions at the front circulation desk.

Re: [Evergreen-general] "Digital" Cards and Library/School Partnerships

2021-10-29 Thread Joan Kranich via Evergreen-general
Hi Keith,

Some of our libraries have worked with schools to register students. Some
visit the school. C/W MARS has a policy and procedure to first search for
the patron in Evergreen to be sure a patron record does not already exist.
We do not do patron record loads except for our academic (college) members.

We use OverDrive to circulate econtent. Some of our public libraries
partner with their local school(s) to use the OverDrive Sora program which
allows students to borrow the network's OverDrive content without a library
card.

Re: [Evergreen-general] "Default phone" required field in the patron edit screen

2021-07-23 Thread Joan Kranich via Evergreen-general
Hi Jane,

For some of our libraries we have batch updated the patron records copying
the number in the Daytime Phone to the Default Phone Number.
Other libraries manually copy the Daytime Phone to the Default Phone
Number.
For new registrations staff just uncheck the email or phone setting for
records without a phone number or email address. The same is true for SMS.

Hope this helps. It would be great to get this bug fixed.
