I understood he was trying to convert an M4A file. I don't have any M4P files
to try it with.

Hi Tom,
To get to the Winamp disk writer plugin:
1. Launch Winamp and open the file you wish to convert.
2. Press v to stop it playing.
3. Press ctrl+p for Winamp preferences.
4. Up or down arrow to plugins. If it is closed, press right arrow to open it.
5. Down arrow to output.
6. Press tab twic

Hi Tom,
If the original plays in Winamp, have you tried converting it to Wav using the
Winamp Disk Writer output plugin. That works for me. You can then convert the
wav to mp3 with Switch.

what I have done so far! As for Error messages from Winamp, none; only thing
is, Winamp isn't playing the converted version of the file. Admittedly, I am

I have not had that problem but it might have to do with the MP3 settings. The
encoder used in the conversion may not be supported by WinAmp. The programs I
mentioned as well as others are free. You might want to try a different
program to see if that helps.

Hello Tom,
I was only trying to bring your attention to what it is you are doing and

I have used Audio Converter Plus for M4a files. It will alsw convert M4B files

I also use Free M4A to MP3 Converter. It can split M4B books into chapter

Both can reduce the bit rate if the files are too large as long as you don't go

Hello Tom,
Convert to a lossless format then you will be able to edit. If you insist upon
using this mp3 cutting program you will be degrading the quality. It may not be
visible to you. But you cannot edit a mp3 file without unpacking it. The
program may just do it in memory but it does it.

Hello Tom,
Do you know how this mp3 cut works? John is right. Imagine a suitcase packed to
the brim and you want to change the suitcase size. You have to unpack it and
transfer its contents into the new case. Some of the contents will be damaged
or just won’t fit in.

Aw yes you can trim an MP3 file; MP3 Direct Cut does this very well; have done

My understanding is tha tyou can't do any trimming or editing of an mp3 file.
So you need to convert it to a .wav file then do your trimming then convert it
to an mp3 file.

Hello,
You are working with 2 lossy formats. You should convert to wav or another

guessing that something wasn’t carried across to the mp3

Can anyone recommend a program to do same?

Hello Don,
Have you tried changing the sample rate within the app you are using? Looking
back, I see the problem is that it is recording too many samples. So do a test
recording at half the sample rate. I mainly use a Mac and would use Amadeus to
play such a recording and adjust the sample rate
No, I haven't nailed it yet. My next door neighbor can't get back here
from Hawaii because of the lockdown. He is a computer genius and will
probably make short work of this.

Studio Recorder works well with any screen reader. I usually use
Window-Eyes, but Jaws also works very well with it.

Thank you so much, Georgina, for your prompt response. What you suggest
makes sense.
Greetings,
I am surprised in TR you are using the stereo mix, I do not for live
streams, I capture the sound off the stream by using background recording.
Then, again, what live streams are you taking?
I can supply you with direct links for all the BBC streams plus a few others
such as The Ride
