Hi,
I'm trying to get the S/PDIF output on the Terratec DMX XFire 1024 to
activate.
According to the web page, the (optical) digital output is supported
on this card, but there's no extra advice attached to it, so I assumed
it would work 'out of the box.'
I tried the advice which I saw attached

I recompiled my kernel with sound support but without alsa. That did it.
And yes, I got LOTS of warning messages. But it works now :-)

Thank you, I will try using snd_isapnp=0. In regards to the "snd_"
prefix with the recent version, I'm using the 0.5 stable version--
should I be using the recent, 0.9-development, version to get it
to work properly with linux kernel 2.4 ?
