I'm having some troubles getting my Edirol PCR-50 keyboard working via
USB with my laptop (it works fine, in Linux, when connected to my
desktop machine's standard MIDI interface, so I'm pretty sure the
keyboard itself isn't broken, although this doesn't verify the USB
portion). I'm using latest CV
Hi, i've got an ALSA 0.9.0r6 problem, sounds similar to that of

but i'm using Deb3.0r0, and rhinefet (from VIA) rather than via-rhine
for the ethernet card.

I'm sending it back to the alsa-user list. I don't have a card like
this.

I'm trying to get ALSA working with my Gravis Ultrasound Classic. I have
compiled ALSA from source (0.9.0rc6) under Debian GNU/Linux with kernel
2.4.20.
I have problems using the native ALSA interface; OSS emulation works fine
(with for example mpg123). aplay works only when I specify -I:

What worked for me: get package xmms-cdread. I believe it allows xmms to treat
the CD as a directory.
Why you can't play CDs in the normal way? I think it is to do with not having
a cable from your CD drive to your sound card. Though I have never looked to
confirm that this was my probl
How do I route the "line in" on my audio card as the output? In otherwords
in something like XMMS, I simply want to play whatever audio signal is
present on the input...
I just got ALSA working but i'm new to audio on Linux so if this is obvious,
forgive me...

I have the SoundBlaster Live Platinum (with the front panel) but I am having
a lot of trouble recording voice with it.
Playback is perfect. I am trying to use the mic input on the LiveDrive which
in alsamixer appears as "Line LiveDrive" and "Line LiveDrive Capture".

Hi everybody,
I have tried for 2 weeks to get the sound to work on a laptop, but i did
not succeed. The laptop is a Toshiba portege 3110 CT that includes a
maestro 2e audio chip. It runs debian with a 2.4.20 kernel (i compiled
sound support into the kernel). I installed alsa drivers version 0.
Hello.
I am trying to run pd as root to enable the -rt switch.
Pd works fine as a normal user.
Midi doesn't work as root. (No midi in or out.) I am fairly new to linux
so I may be overlooking something really simple (or I may have done
something really dumb) so any ideas will be welcome.

He "fixed" it by using envy24control ("alsa-tools" or "alsa-utils") switching to
SPDIF-IN and 22kHz, then back to 44kHz without SPDIF-IN. Somehow the card gets
correctly initialized then.
This is a mail about a problem regarding envy24 and sapmle-rates:
