Hi All,
Can someone tell me if Alsa has support to make mixer "groups?" For
example, I'd like to group all the wave * channels (wave, wave center,
wave surround, etc) into a group and map that to PCM. So I can then use
oss-mixer to adjust the digital volume. I have a SBLive 5.1 using Emu10k1

Hello...
In order to try out Rosegarden, I installed the ALSA v0.9.0rc7 drivers.
(I'm running RedHat 7.3, kernel 2.4.18-3, on an i586, with an ISA PnP
ESS 1869-based sound card). Trying to run Rosegarden on a computer with
a 500Mhz CPU may be wishful thinking, but that's another story...

If you have the speakers connected to the card only through SPDIF, the
mixer (any mixer under alsa) will be ineffective.

The install of driver, lib and utils proceeds without a hitch; I run
alsaconf, which successfully detects the card and configures
/etc/modules.conf; the modules all load without any obvious issues
(nothing suspicious in either the output of dmesg or /var/log/messages -

I'm currently having some fairly horrendous problems getting alsa to
work with a SB Live! card. The system is red hat 7.2 with kernel 2.4.19;
the alsa driver package is 0.9.0rc7; /proc/pci gives "Multimedia audio
controller: Creative Labs SB Live! EMU10K1 (rev.7)".

Hello,
I am wondering if the soundblaster pci512 soundcard
is supported by alsa? If so, can someone provide information on how to configure
the modules.conf file to access it?

So, is it hopeless for my Turtle Beach Pinnacle?
It's old, but the sound quality is very good... :-(

Hi,
I finally got the 6 chanel audio to work with my cmedia 8738 chip (v55)!
I'm typing this on another machine and will try to reproduce my steps from
memory. Hopefully it will help others.
After installing rc7 (--with-oss=yes --with-isapnp=no --with-cards=cmipci)
depmod was unhappy. I had to ad

Well, not anymore.
I have the bill from the shop and it says i128 but
Windows will only install i512 drivers (of course)
and unfortunately I can't find the original installation CD. Nor package (wa
Greetings.
Recently I have switched servers for the djcj.org site. This resulted in
some downtime over the past two weeks and over the past week for my email.
Sorry for the inconvienience this may have caused for people trying to

This solution works

I can now see a MIDI port.
Also to Jaroslav or whoever maintains the ALSA soundcard matrix, I can
confirm that the SiS 645DX chipset works using the intel8x0 module for

Thanks Clemens...
I tried Takashi's suggestion with no success. However I know something
must work as the manual for the motherboard confirms MIDI output should
work. (I haven't got any version of win installed to test as yet, I
would love not to ever have to)
I'll post the list the results...

Looking at other messages on this list, it seems that using Rosegarden
together with ALSA's OSS emulation simply doesn't work.
