Thanks Lee My alsa-lib and alsa-driver are both 1.10. How do I configure arts to use alsa? I haven't done anything with arts - I'm not starting it myself or anything, but artsd is running when I use sound devices. I have configured kaffeine to use alsa rather than the default of auto. If I run

[Alsa-user] How to change the default timer used?

How can I change the timer that alsa uses (including for the OSS drivers)? I think I found the source of my problem: it seems that the kernel has turned the sound card IRQ off!! - dmesg says ... 'irq 3: nobody cared!' 'Disabling IRQ #3' and alsa-lib-1.0.10/test/timer

[Alsa-user] Roland u8 question(or problem?)

Hi! I've just connect a Roland U8 usb device to my computer. Midi worked fine from the beginning, but no audio devices were listed. The U8 is a kind of hard-disk recorder without any disk. It has effects, control-elements and offers some analog/digital i/os. Does anyone have an idea about

AHA! Silly me -- there's a setting in rosegarden-4 to choose the MIDI output device and the default need only be set to the Timidity device! I do not pretend to understand anything more than that it makes a sound now, and for the moment, I'm one happy camper. -- Gary Lawrence Murphy garym at
