elated to ALSA--even knowing that
would be a help in my current predicament. In the case that more

I have ALSA working with only one caveat: I cannot readily transition from a
Dolby Digital stream to a stereo stream. I play sound to my receiver (Onkyo
TX-SR805) using the coaxial output of my SB Live Value card on FC9. When I
power on the receiver or play a digital stream, the default displayed
When I do configure in alsa-driver-1.0.14:
configure --with-oss=yes --with-pcm-oss-plugins=yes
--with-cards=emu10k1 --with-sequencer=yes
I get the following error:
checking for which soundcards to compile driver for... configure:

when trying to make alsa-driver-1.0.13 I get the following error:

Problem solved :-)
In ~/.xmms/config I changed one line:
[ALSA}
pcm_device=hw:0,0 line from linda worked in song
pcm_device=default did not work in song
I don't know why this worked but xmms is working fine now.

I copied over the Master ~/.asoundrc which did not exist on mp3server

I used mpg321 to play an mp3 file and it sounded just fine.
Maybe the problem is with xmms?
I've run out of ideas. Any help appreciated.

I built the alsa drivers and libs and utils and installed.
Put the lines in /etc/modules.conf from the howto for my
card, everything went without errors except when I try
to run alsamixer I get the following error and I can't unmute
the sound. I'm pretty sure the card's working cause I get
no
Can anyone help me get the Alsa drivers installed on an RH 8 system
using a CMI8738 sound card?
Thanks!
