Short follow-up, I think I have solved the issue by blacklisting
snd_hda_codec_hdmi in /etc/modprobe.conf/blacklist.conf (a tried a simple rmmod
earlier but that didn't cut it). Sound seems to be back now. I guess the Radeon
card interfered.

that application fails. the weird thing is that the same
application works with my buddy, that has the exact same OS with the exact
same version of the application.
can it be a problem with the OSS emulation? with the mixer perhaps?
or the mapping of OSS volume levels...

might be that OSS emulation has a different set of audio levels then ALSA
has. alsamixer looks just fine, but some program that uses OSS emulation
can't use the microphone, and I've thought that the microphone in a OSS

the /dev/sound/dsp uses 3 and the /dev/sound/adsp uses 12 . I want to switch
the char minor of those devices, because I can't record using dsp, but I can
record through adsp...
how can I accomplish this?

the RTC in your kernel as a module. The problem is in
alsa-kernel/core/Makefile, where CONFIG_RTC is tested for y and not for m.

yes, that sounds like a layout problem. i will try to get my hands on
a SBLive, and also use some virtual midi ports. as you might have noticed,
this release is still rather beta: lot's of printf to be removed ;-)
