after a long search I managed to install alsa rc7 on suse 8.0
The distributed kernel is 2.4.18-4GB, and the alsa gets unresolved symbols.
Fix: #include into acore/misc.c

ystick / midi cable are too short.
If you plug one of these between the two midi connectors on the suspect cable and het
no echo, while running a wire right at the 15 pin connector creates midi echo, it is
definitely
a bad cable. If you do get a signal from this echo test, the keyboard electronics may
o the card.
Hi Thomas,
you may want to do test the raw midi port
/proc/asound/dev/midiC0D0 or similar
for input or check /proc/asoun/card0/midi0 whether it reports any received bytes
For midi output, try the pmidi program - in particular "pmidi -l" to list available
ports
is very help
