you dont need to recompile the kernel, you just need the sources kernels if you
want install alsa-drive , you can find the package in 2nd cd of RedHat in
development/system.
Put
2nd cd in your cdrom, and if you have kde run utilitis/autorun, normally goes
directely to gnome-rmp and pres
