I had a problem playing 24-bit files created in Windows.
They are usually (and correctly) 3byte sample files.
Ecasound can now play those if you get the latest CVS version.

Now you just need a program that can read it. Few quest
I tried the following:
test the file:
ecasound -i 16bit44kHz.wav -f:s24,2,44100 -o alsa,default
convert it to 24 bit:
ecasound -i 16bit44kHz.wav -f:s24,2,44100 -o 24bit_test.wav -t:15
test the 24bit file:
ecasound -i 24bit_test.wav -f:s24,2,44100 -o alsa,default
it works, no problem!

Try ecasound, www.eca.cx/ecasound. If it doesn't work for some reason, put
a sample 24bit file somewhere on the web (or mail me if it's small), and

this file with xmms, alsaplay and wavplay but it doesnt work. I dont

Hello!
Now I installed the ALSA driver for my Audiophile 2496 soundcard. It
was not possible for me to play 24Bit/96kHz sound files. I dont know if
this problem is caused by the ALSA driver or by the soundplayer.
Is it possible to play 24Bit/96kHz sounds by ALSA?
Thank you very much! Jan
