its the 3rd device, use aplay -D hw:0,2 xyz.wav
if you dont hear anything, check your volume setups

my terratec ews88mt is running, too. (redhat7.3/alsa: cvs-version just
from about 2 weeks ago), but my .asoundrc looks different:
pcm.ice1712 {
type hw
card 0
}
ctl.ice1712 {
type hw
card 0
}
that all (and it works)

i recently got a terratec ews88mt and got it working with the help of the
alsa mailing lists archives and of course due to the very nice work of
the alsa programmers out there (thank you for it!), but i am still not
able to output sound to the 3.5mm headphone (or line out, whatever) jack
