Specifically, I'd like to route outputs from the Wavetable Synths on my
card to inputs that would go straight into a DAW (such as Ardour), so that

Hello,
I'm using 0.9rc6 with an emu10k1. I'm playing the ut_2003 demo and I hear a
lot of loud pops an crackles out of the sound card. The same kind of pops you
would hear when you repeatedly unplug and plug in your speaker cables.
The card/driver works 100% stable with no pops in any other app

Sorry for the mess. Looks like the volume controls are activated
automatically when something is playing in the channel.
So problem solved...

Hello again, and sorry for the spam.
I wrote here about these controls (pcm send and routing).
I probably disabled them by mistake somewhere
along the line, because /etc/asound.state has 'read write inactive'
in the comment.access field of each of the channels.
It's probably just me again, but I c
Hi!
I'm trying to utilize the hardware mixing capability of
my sblive. I can play audio through the pcm channels 0 to 31
with 'aplay -D hw:0,0,# some.wav', where # is the subdevice.
Now, what I would like to do is to control the volume settings
of these channels. I recall that in an earlier versi
Hi everybody! I'm very glad to say that my brand new Soundblaster Audigy works great
with Alsa (been able to watch DVDs with XINE with 5.1 surround).
There's only one thing that I can't manage: letting the LFE work with simple stereo
output (ie: XMMS playing MP3s).
I downloaded a so called 'Surr
Hi there!
I use an emu10k1 with spdif output enabled and alsa-driver-0.9.0rc2 on a

Is there another possibility to chaage the output volume than moving the

Currently I'm having problems with alsa-driver-0.9.0rc2 throwing kernel
oopses. Basically whenever I modprobe snd-emu10k1, the system rapidly
becomes unstable. It may last for a few more minutes, then it will spew out
a stream of errors about "Attempt to kill the idle task", "Aieee, killing
Has anyone been able to record with anything using
alsa-0.9rc1 with the sb audigy chipset?
I'm trying to capture off audio tape, playthrough
works fine, but it doesn't record anything.
Everything else works fine.
Thanks!

I'm trying to get Alsa working well with my SB Live! 5.1+ card. I'm
using the 2.5.14 kernel. My alsa (-lib, -util) is from "cvs update -D '8
may 2002'", as I read somewhere RC1 was missing files and the current
CVS doesn't compile for me (something integer64-related that happened

I have a Debian linux box with a Sound Blaster Audigy Platinum
sound card and Klipsh (sp?) 5.1 surround speakers. I'm using
the 2.4.16, 2.4.18 and 2.5.11 kernels.
I've downloaded the alsa driver 0.90beta12 and followed the
directions carefully. In both the 2.4.16 and 2.4.18 (didn't
try with 2.5.
Workaround (very STRANGE) found...
To have it working absolutely with everything (all multimedia, games
etc..) I need to do following actions during startup (or after):
1. I have to load the oss drivers FIRST!!!
2. I have to unload them and load ALSA drivers.
3. I have to load the oss-compatibilit
I installed recent version of alsa drivers (yesterdays CVS) and found
following problem (before I used OSS drivers but these did not work with
quakeforge and quake2 - but worked with quake3)
When loaded the alsa dirvers for the first time EVERYTHING worked fine.
(I unloaded OSS drivers and loaded

Are these values standard, or are they unqiue to the card? And if so, how do you find
out what values should be there?
