Hi all!
I experience quite a strange problem with Amanda on Cygwin: I do not get the index
results of dumps. The backups go well (I can amrestore them without error) but the
indexes are not generated (the index files on the server are 0 byte...) so I cannot
amrecover them.

Ted,
I just noticed that you mentioned using the disk output driver. I
believe my problem with Amanda dropping into degraded mode was specific
to using the tape output driver (I use disk directories that are seen as
virtual tapes). Sorry for confusing the issue...

If you put the spool area on the output disk will it juggle

Ted,
I've been using a 2 TB disk array for the past month or so and it's been
working great for me without a holding disk. Using a holding disk will
require more free disk space plus the additional time to transfer from
the holding disk to the backup disk.
I recommend getting a patch from Jea

If you're using the disk output driver to run backups to a large disk

if nobisy has had any joy with these autoloaders can anyone recommend a LTO

All the answers depend on the exact behavior of your firewall, but they
should act consistently with other permitted services.
To get Amanda through firewalls here, we needed to specify port ranges for
both the TCP and UDP ports. We used the TCP range X-X0040 and UDP range

How about running it the other way around? If you're using win2k/xp, use
the native windows ntbackup.exe to write it out to file on disk. Setup a
samba server with enough disk & share out to the target machines only.
Schedule the target machines to run ntbackup to the samba share. On my p3

Hi,
I've added a new partition to my disklist:

A procedure I did a dozen times before. But now I receive error messages at
nightly dumps and I can't right work out what's the reason. What is meant by
"missing size line from sendbackup"?
Thank you for your help
