the BabyMobile and
BestClub databases, but would only record the link to AngelClub and not
the database itself, so you would have to add /var3/mysql/AngelClub to
get that database.

Hi huys..
I have 2 situations:
1) default directory for MySQL is /var/lib/mysql. If this directory is link
to /var2/db/mysql and if I put /var/lib/mysql in disklist, can amanda do
backup? I think this should be can backup. May
? Comes with 9 LTO-2 FC tape drives and I
could get it cheap...
thanks!

then
you will have your data restored and can use it long before tar
scans through the entire DLE on tape (looking for other copies of
the same file that won't be there since Amanda doesn't append to tar
archives).

Can you give some more evidence that the taper isn't starting until
all of the dumps are finished?
Not using a holding disk would cause that behavior, as would a setting
of 'inparallel 1'.

, enabling you to back up subdirectories that would fit on
a single tape.
Personally, I feel that having a multiple tape dump image just
increases the odds of a failed restore, as well as making bare
metal recovery without Amanda more difficult. YMMV.

I haven't looked at tar 1.20 myself, but I guess --no-check-device is a

(might have to tweak your labelstr regex to support it)? That way you
wouldn't need to make any changes to Amanda except your barcodes file

part of the issue was the result of having a couple of
relatively larger DLEs and several smaller ones, making level

might want to consider configuring for client compression. Not
only will that give you more CPU for feeding your tape, it also
minimizes network bandwidth. As usual, YMMV, it all depends on where
the bottlenecks are in your environment.

is really the proc filesystem, you should exclude that from
your backup as it can be quite a rabbit hole. Try using an
exclude file or exclude list to exclude ./root/proc and see if
that speeds things up.
