Why don't you rather look at the amavisd log?
Increase the log level and see what is the last thing
amavisd is ding before a process crash.

I found every time the same error in Postfix log when amavis is crashing,
for example :
to=<[EMAIL PROTECTED]>, relay=127.0.0.1[127.0.0.1], delay=2635,
status=deferred (lost connection with 127.0.0.1[127.0.0.1] while sending
end of data
