The problem with receivers that old is, you cant tell what frequency you
are on, the dials are very inexact.

When I just want to listen to good quality AM I use my Hammarlund HQ-140. I
pretty much have a complete line of the HQ series and to my rather poor ear,
the 140 sounds the best. Its probably because it is in the best shape of
them all.
Just my 2 cents.
