Is anyone hearing any rumors of new satellite rigs on the horizon (pun
intended)? The TS2000 and Icom 910H are hitting 9 years on the market, and
Yaesu isn't currently marketing a satellite rig.

My serious guess is that ICOM will bring out a IC-910H replacement, if you
look at their recent offerings then there's really only the IC-910H which
could be upgraded. The IC-703 has been discontinued, so unless there's a new
QRP rig in the works then I hope there will be a new VHF/UHF/SHF
I didn't know the 703 was discontinued. Sigh--I wanted to have some
friends get them.
I'd like to think that Icom will come out with other radios, but given
the current economy, will they do that, I wonder.
SHF on a radio--I like that!

Look at the price of the IC-7600 - and that's selling well, as is the
IC-7700.
There's plenty of money for

Hi Tim,
I'm curious about what symptoms you're experiencing with your Aspire One,
which I'm also using.
?
In my case, during the short time I had available?to use SatPC32 with mine
netbook just before leaving the country, I found that the Doppler corrections
from the program were slow in

My observation, confirmed by Mike, DK3WN, is that for best results
the following downlink frequencies should be assumed:
POLLUX: 145.826 MHz 1200 bd AFSK
CASTOR: 145.828 MHz 1200 bd AFSK

\Jim,
I know I responded to you off the BB, but it occurs to me that I should post a
response to the reflector.
I'm not having any symptoms at all when using SatPC 32 with the Acer. The
combination works very well to provide Doppler tuning for my two radios.

Haven't been on in a few days and saw that Gould did some software uploads.
Before I rip my system apart to troubleshoot, is the bird on a lower power
level? Usually those 32 degree passes over the Midwest for me are not
difficult to hear. Today, I could hear it but barely audible.

Hi Greg and BB,
After the software reload the end of July, AO-51 went into a no eclipse
period. This no eclipse period will last until next May.
We will be able to run higher power levels since there is always solar power
and the batteries stay charged.
AO-51 is TXing more power than it has
Gould,
Thanks. That answers that question...have ladder...will climb!

Hi Greg and
I've got high hopes for the Flex-5000 + the internal UHF/VHF module.
It's supposed to be available late 2009.

Hi Joe WB9SBD
The ARRL Handbook explain that you must consider the velocity factor. To put a
shorted quarter-wave coax line at the converter input as a short for the
statics is easer than to find out from where the statis came from !

I am having a problem receiving packets from ISS. Good signals, data LED
lights, but nothing shows on the screen. If I monitor normal 2m packet freq or
APRS channel, I have no problems. I am monitoring the 145.825 mhz freq and I
guess it is still 1200 baud, not 9600? Anyone with any ideas. I

Simon please buy a used IC-910H, that way you can fix the Satellite
Module!
I'm sure you can re-sell it for about the same you pay, maybe more.
I personally doubt that Icom will replace the 910H any time soon.
That rig, given it's price tag and being only for 2m/440/1.2, must not
sell
I know it would be kind of a spendy option, but has anyone looked at the
elecraft transverters?
