Why couldn't AMSAT conduct some type of OO program? The offending operators get a courtesy post card. AO-51 is a nightmare. Sometimes you hear the same ops on each pass calling one another. If you want a decent qso, go on AO-7 etc and free up some AO-51 downlinks. 73 Greg N3MVF -Origina

Dee, Good points. I don't know why operators think it's a DX pileup and have to run 5 or more contacts and monopolize the bird too. Greg N3MVF -Original Message- From: amsat-bb-boun...@amsat.org [mailto:amsat-bb-boun...@amsat.org] On Behalf Of Dee Sent: Wednesday, February 02, 2011 10:5

The more I read the BB, it seems like some have endorsed the idea that getting grids are like an HF contest. I need to get them all today. Unfortunately, contesting has come to the birds in an indirect way. Get a grid and allow someone else the opportunity to get one. 73 Greg N3MVF -Origi

Kevin, Do you think that because it is amateur, that you can ignore proper protocols? CB is amateur too and lacks protocol. Do we want that? Beaconing...legal, broadcasting... illegal. That's something old codger amateurs didn't make up on this board here today. Calling CQ satellite for the

[amsat-bb] PSK v. APRS

2011-06-06 Thread Greg Dober
Bob, Guess the APRS dilemma was like splitting the atom. The real use and the unintended use. Could a system like the ISS be switched to a PSK31 or similar mode in the future? How well would PSK work with Doppler etc? I use it on HF, but was wondering if FM and satellites could be feasible.

Hi John, I'm not so sure it's an anti-wide rant. It is a discussion on a possible way to get more efficient use from the limited bandwidth and power on the bird. I love playing with RTTY on HF and packet on VHF, but when you head down to 14.070 and see all the stations on the sliver of band qso'

Not trashing the 2000, but when it first came out I sold a TS-450 and an Icom 910 thinking that "one box" would be great. So, I purchased the 2000. Well, within one year, I sold the 2000 and bought a TS-870 for HF work and another IC-910. I could have lived with it as an HF radio and a UHF/VHF rep
