All,
My students and I are working on a way to rapidly measure the radiation
pattern of various UHF antennas. We are using a pair of RFM22s - the
transmitter sends magnetometer (azimuth) and accelerometer (elevation)
data from a LSM303 along with its output power level. The receiving

Despite S5+ signals from some of these ORS satellites, we cannot decode
them. Is there a terrestrial 9600 station in Los Angeles we can test
against? Reply to -bb off-list, since I get the digest.
Setup is FT-897, ubuntu linux, soundmodem through the 9600 line on the

I'd like to second that! My first year attending a symposium, and
certainly won't be the last.

P.S. I'm the UCLA guy with all the questions, and apparently the
youngest in attendance at the banquet. I hope everyone is enjoying their

What frequencies are E1Pu2 and RAX2 using? Both are CubeSats aboard the
NPP launch on October 27th, and both have the same IARU coordination -
437.505MHz, and both are 9k6.
I haven't seen any frequencies from IARU, the mission websites, or this

Attached is the spreadsheet previously mentioned spreadsheet to fix TLEs
checksums. I've rewritten it since what I was using was still a tedious
operation and I didn't want to distribute that to the community. This
should be much better, though you still need to remove any
The O/OREOS TLEs consistently do not have valid checksums (last digit of
each line). I submitted a comment about this on their website but I have
not heard back. The correct checksums are 2 3, and not the 6 5 that
is listed.
If, by the time you read this, the posted TLEs are not 6 5, then

Are either of these the golden standard? Not exactly, but it is the
closest thing I've seen to one. Ease of integration and flexibility are
the key to getting your transponder flown.

I have the IC-910H doppler working w/ gpredict just fine using a eBay
CI-V cable. I have the radio's baud rate set to automatic but the cable
itself only seems able to support 4800 baud (no lower, no higher). Works
great at 1 second updates even for LEO birds.

Anybody ever rig up automatic doppler tuning to a FT-726? Without a CI-V
interface (or equivalent) the best idea I can think of is splicing a
microcontroller in to push the up, down, and maybe the fast buttons on
the microphone during a pass.
Then I'd just have to dial in the initial frequency
via the data/packet port? I
vaguely remember something about being able to do this. Check the archives
late 1990's

I don't have experience with 3rd party controllers but the position
reporting is fundamentally different. Instead of potentiometers
indicating the present az/el, there are just pulses indicating when the
motors have traveled a degree.
So a little more work is associated with keeping track of
Has anyone modified Predict export GS-232 as opposed to EasyComm 2?
I recently purchased an AlfaSpid RAS-1 rotator from Hy-Gain. The
controller accepts either GS-232 or AlfaSpid's own protocol.
Additionally, has anyone noticed the digits on the controller display
flickering? Its just a
