[amsat-bb] Is there any frequency error on the AO-7 Mode A transponder?

2010-12-01 Thread Scott Armstrong
Hi all, I am new again to satellites after a 30 year absence. I recently began operating on AO-7 ,Mode A, since that is the only bands I currently have equipment for. Over the past few weeks while trying to find my downlink signal, it seems to be farther off in frequency than I would expe

[amsat-bb] AO-7 Scheduling page

2010-12-16 Thread Scott Armstrong
There is a link off of the AO-7 resource page for a logger for scheduling contacts but it doesn't work. Does anybody know of a real time/near time reflector for scheduling more specifically AO-7 contacts or even a general reflector covering all the satellites? Thanks in advance and 73,

Hi Craig, I've attached a copy of the HamIV manual. Let me know if you get it OK. It has some troubleshooting info towards the back. >From your problem description, my bet is that the sweeper arm on the >potentiometer inside the rotor is no longer making contact. I've had several >wear o

[amsat-bb] AO-7 Mode change

2011-01-13 Thread Scott Armstrong
Saw a post a few days ago regarding AO-7 Mode change. Today 13 Jan, 2011 the mode changed from A to B at 23:28z. Seems like it is getting later as time progresses. Last time I noted a changes was back in late Novenber at about 23:23z and in mid December at 23:25z. Scott AA5AM

my lash up system, anyone can. Why don't you give mode A a try. It's not very busy and is very reliable. Hope to hear some new activity on Mode A. Drop me an email if you would like to set up a sked. 73, Scott Armstrong - AA5AM Blue Ridge TX - EM13sg A, R and X Sorter- W5

Don't forget to include what it cost to obtain a minimum of 100 QSLs in the pre VUCC-LOTW world. Assuming (worst case) SASEs were sent @44 cents each and assuming 100% response rate (lots of assuming here)plus the $12 for the award fee, it would have cost a minimum of $100. So that $23 for a L

2011-01-29 Thread Scott Armstrong
Hi All, Just finished the mod on my IC-3200a to move the TX/RX down to 430-440 MHz. Still need to round up some coax for the antenna but almost ready to start attempting to receive some of the FM birds. Not sure which antenna I'm going to use but have a CC424b and a KLM crosspol antennas avail

For a data match to occur, both QSOs date/time (in UTC) must be within 30 minutes of each other. Here's the link to the LOTW info that spells out what constitutes a data match. https://p1k.arrl.org/lotw/faq#datamatch Scott AA5AM > From: gary_mayfi...@hotmail.com > To: zack.kd8...@hotmail

It does happen sometimes. I wouldn't say that it hangs up but just slow processing the logs. I've been using LOTW since the beginning and have seen where it may take anywhere from a few minutes to a day for the totals to update. The CQWW 160 contest ended Sunday night and the server/database

Question for the group. The AO-51 status on the AMSAT.org status page shows AO-51 to have a HF component that is operational. Reading about the satellite and some of the related links I found mentioned something about a 10m uplink budget but no additional information. All other reference

Has anyone experienced anything like this on AO-7 Mode A? Earlier today on pass 65777 ( AOS approx. 2207z) I was looking for my downlink signal shortly after my AOS. While searching for my downlink signal I could also hear a few other unidentifiable CW stations. I figured they were also loo

Dean, Something else to consider is that the "old" bird swtiched modes in the middle of the pass. I do not have any idea when it switches from Mode B back to Mode A since I am not capable of operating Mode B. However, I can speak to it switching from Mode A to Mode B in the middle of a p
