For Satellite work I have personally found that the elements of a beam like
the Elk or Arrow need to be oriented to the plane of the Sats track through
the sky. Ultimately, you want to orient the antenna so that you have
maximum received signal strength (and/or audio). I suggested in an earlier
Ron - AMSAT has an Elk antenna and bag in stock. The antenna is $125 and
the bag is $25. Shipping is extra.

Lighten why don't you! Considering some of the junk that goes on here,
these people were trying to give a light hearted view. If you were

that you could try.

I want... a dual band 144/440 antenna on my 85' tower.
Can I get away with a fixed elevation of about 30
degrees and horizontal polarization?
Three facts say that 30 degrees is the wrong angle.
1. The amount of time that LEO satellites are above 30 degrees
is less than 20% of all view times.

Regarding the 30 degree fixed elevation...I can tell you this will work just
fine from my experience. The beanwidth is not like a 10 element yagi with
sharp drop offs that require precise aiming. You should be good to go.
