I've just published my first paid app, a 'Pro' version of my free app.
I've got two things I'm trying to understand:

I've had a couple users say they can't download two of my apps. The
apps are 1.2 to 2.3Mb in size and the users seemed to imply that the
size was an issue since they could download smaller apps ok. One user
has a Cliq, not sure of the others. I told them to clear the cache and
data in the Market
Hi,
I created a signed apk. I uploaded it to marketplace as usual. I also
installed a copy of it on a device directly, perhaps as an email
attachment.
If I upload an updated version of the app to the marketplace, will the
device be notified that a new version of the app exists on
marketplace? Or

Notifications are only shown for apps installed through Market. (Don't know
what you mean about this rarely working, I am not aware of an issue there,
and do get notifications all the time for apps installed on my phone.
Though less now that I have many to auto-install.)

There are two issues I've noticed with notifications. First,
I have definitely seen the first issue, at least on 2.1. Seems like the
notification pops up only when I run the Market - don't have to check for
anything but the very act of running the Market seems to trigger a check on
the number of updates available. This seems to be the case on 2.2 as well at

Just to sanity check myself, I looked around and there's a bug report for
it. Last commenter says it's happening on N1 with Froyo.

I am wondering how the marketplace handles a specific situation.
Assume I write an app that is for 2.1 and up. I then put a market://
link on my web page that advertises the app. A user with a version
lower than 2.1 comes to my web page and clicks the link, which in turn
causes the
I finally started using Google Chrome last week. I'm not an early
adopter for most software, but I thought perhaps the major bugs had
been worked out at this point.
So today I went to the Android Marketplace to upload a new version of
my app. Strangest thing.. I was unable to click on the [
In my experience, Chrome does a lot things nicely but interacting with web
sites is not one of them. Go figure.

And it's already version 5 point something. That sure was fast.
I guess I'll try it again next year when it's
Hi,
I'd like to know if a user downloaded my app from marketplace via a
referral from another app. Example:
Color Meter is an app which analyzes colors in an image. The user
can download my advanced camera app, Super Camera, which works well
with Color Meter, and is suggested by the Color Meter
Any thought on how the Marketplace handles the information related to
the marketplace applications? I wonder if the request is posted to the
marketplace every time client is started or if some of the available
applications data is stored locally and refreshed by the background
service.

Suggestion for the Marketplace:
Change the View more applications button to be called More by
developer.
Note: It is under the About the developer title, however, I doubt
many people take notice of the title.
Please leave a comment or suggestion if you agree / disagree.

Hi all,
I couldn't find reference to it in the Google documentation, but are
there any restrictions on creating
an application with no launcher and selling it on Android Marketplace?
Thanks,

I have been working on an Application that displays in-game time
information for a popular MMO Final Fantasy XI. Its finally complete

money right now on it and
I got quite a few questions about the Marketplace. Is there some sort
of source for answers on this, or some e-mail that Google responds to?
My biggest question is, I released my second version of my program
Radio's Diabetes Companion, is there any way to contact my current
users and let them
I'm curious what the deal is with the Android Marketplace. It seems
like:
- You can't browse it or download apk files in the marketplace from a
desktop computer. Just previews of a few apps.
- Marketplace is not installed in the emulator in the sdk
- Can't find anything on how to install it

Hello all,
I have an app on the marketplace right now that is doing fairly well.
When paid apps arrive, I'd like to change a few variables in my code
and republish the code so a 'demo' and a 'full' version exists.
I did some experimenting with this about a month ago and I'd like to
get some
