Greetings
all,
Hi Paul,
I would suggest you to go ahead with an user ( generally known as
root) which has all the administrative permissions.
If you go ahead with any other user than you will have to make sure
that this user has 777 i.e rwx access to the following directories

Hi,
It appears the command to stop the service is fired on Linux/Solaris and
with non root user.
Please verify if the user has root privileges when issuing the start/stop
command.

Hello,
Not sure this is the right solution, but I was able to make the report created
Birt 4.2.1 work. I faced the same problem as mentioned by you. So used Birt
2.5.1 to create a similar report.
Then I compared the rptdesign files using notepad++. There were few differences

Hi,
We have installed ITSM using root user because root user have all access
permissions and there is no restriction for us from Linux Admin.
We are not facing any problem.
But You have to manually export or enter all export entry in .profile file

I'm not an OS administrator, but I would think in general a best practice would
be to install as non-root, from a security perspective. But it's true that
doing so requires a few extra steps for AR System, and I imagine also for ITSM.

Hi All,
My admin is working on start up and shutdown scripts for the mid-tier and I
can't tell him what file(s) need to be started. Couldn't find it in the
installation guide or KB. If anyone has a script I can use or know the files to
execute, please let me know.

I have a custom app where I need to create multiple tickets

What OS? What is the servlet engine? (Tomcat, ServletExec, WebSphere,

That could very likely be the scripts in your system. You can verify that you
are an arsys.xml in the catalina/localhost folder to verify that it's the
Tomcat that your Mid-Tier is in.

When you send an email template to the AR Server that contains several lines,
you will need to encase the data with [$$ $$]. I have found that having the
trailing $$] on a separate line works better.

I've noticed that colons in the notes or any character field stops the rest
of the data to come through in the outgoing emails. Not sure if this is
the problem you are facing.
Happened in 7.5 and 7.6.04 for us in our custom environment.

Thank you Mark and Lisa.
Using the [$$ $$] seems to work for me now.

Hope this helps

This will tell you the user who owns the files and directory.
