7.6.04 ver switch from 32 bit to 64 bit

2013-10-11 Thread lisa bumshteyn
Looking to get some advice if there would be any problem with copying registry entries and directory structure when switching over from 32 bit Win 2003 environment to 64 bit Win 2008. Plan is to use a copy of the existing database, copy over registry and directory strcture to the new appl server

Hi, I would do a fresh install, and point the installer to your database copy. Best Regards - Misi, RRR AB, http://www.rrr.se (ARSList MVP 2011) Products from RRR Scandinavia (Best R.O.I. Award at WWRUG10/11/12/13): * RRR|License - Not enough Remedy licenses? Save money by optimizing. *

I had a thought.. this might be a time to do a server group... Build a fresh box -- 64bit, add as a server group Rebuild Original box -- add back in to server group. Make one the Admin / integration / Reconcil server the other main customer -- no outages, and now you have redundancy / failover

I like that idea! I was going to recommend building a new 64-bit ITSM server with a new junk DB. Once the server is build you cut it over to the existing DB. With your method the installers won't need to do any of the DB work that done during a fresh install; just build the app server. Jason

So I'm hearing a unanimous NO on the binary copy, with all of you favoring the fresh install only at the OS level. Decided then!! Thanks guys!! On Fri, Oct 11, 2013 at 4:00 PM, Jason Miller jason.mil...@gmail.comwrote: ** I like that idea! I was going to recommend building a new 64-bit ITSM
