Happy to post solutions. In this case, BMC miss understood what was reported,
with a web ex - they resolved it (2sec). What hurt was the goose chase prior
to webex.

Not even user error was the cause, but admin error. (shaking my head).
In one of the midtier that I was hitting, preference server was not defined.
The menu and user mt logging depends on this.
still can't believe something so simple, missed.

BMC hadn't been able to identify the cause either. 30 seconds with the
right knowledge and it was fixed.
