You're right. You need that draw, like it or not. As far as artists and antiques, to me, their better left to the monthly events or shared spaces that works. For the downtown to move on, you need some major spaces back on cookman- you need the Steinbach retail done, with a downtown anchor.

Additionally, there were no shopping malls, so there was no where else to go anyway. More and more downtown areas are becoming successful because people are getting turned off by the shopping mall idea. It's a regular cycle I think and the tide has turned to more of a downtown preference.
